Ok, this might sound a thicko question but how the f*ck do you keep your rear drums on the outside clean and preventing them from having a rustic look ? Any chemicals / ideas that I may use ?

Clean them up and apply some high temperature paint, you can buy it to put on manifolds, only a limited colour range tho'.

Same as OldZed said. Take wheels off, wire brush the surfaces and paint with high temp silver alluminium paint. Get autosol on the calipers. Remember not to paint the mating surfaces.
