My friend who owns a Supra has just purchased a T70  turbo. His car already has 550bhp. I didnt even realise you could get turbos that big.

He reckons he should be pushing 700bhp when fitted.

Shall I just give up?

Drive by a frog santuary, it'll go into auto-pilot and have to pull in!

You should still have him through the corners. The 300ZX is a finesse car. Besides, it's all about bottle when you get much over 200bhp.

hmmmm well from knowing a few of the guys on the supra board theres non using the T70 as its a bit of a "put together " turbo but i think he may be having you on as the T70 would only be good for about 550 max anyway so he is either not running 550 in the first place or plans to be running 550 now??

just send him either mine or maccas way ;)

You could alsways just let his tyres down!!

Why are the straight 6 Turbos more tuneable than the V6's then? Quite often read about Stupid power Skylines and what have you. Is it a heat related issue? V6 retains more of it, because of the 'V'.

just because its simple mainly, they can fit a big single turbo, big FMIC, big injectors and all that without pulling the engine. Of course fitting a big single will do nothing for the drivability of it, it will be a bit of a lag monster, and even on the sequential setup the supra has a bit of a reputation for sending you sideways when the second turbo spools up.

Thats very true...

Dependant on your cars BHP/torque suspension and mapping, in a straight line race I'd say the (sorry all, but brother has TT Sup though quite a few extra's  ), that if he gets the single turbo conversion/has large single conversion and is set-up eg.fueling/tuning wise CORRECTLY, he would win.

Hate it when the Supra vs ZX debate comes up...Love my Z, but also appreciate what a great car the Supra is too :(

No matter how good people say the Supra is, Nissan always have something better to offer. Now although I prefer the sleak lines of the Zed, I'd have one of these over any supra. :D

KIRBS.......Can you reduce the length of your sig mate. its such a pain to keep scrolling across to read your posts? :smash:

i was amazed at how easy the skyline was to tune, just chuck a few bits on, get it mapped and voila, 400+bhp...

from what i've read the Z seems harder to do...

not bothered really tho as not looking to up the power on mine..

no

ok will resize them ;)

While i agree the straight 6 is just easier to work on as the fueling and plenum is on one side the the turbos or turbo is on the other but as (fingers crossed) i hope to prove both me mac and a few others are out there to show that with the right setup and development the zed can keep up :)

your not wrong mate, bigger injectors, steel internal turbos, pfr and a power FC and your looking at the best part of 500 bhp for around 2-3k

but

the supras i think now have the best bhp per money as theres a single setup avaliable for around £1200 and the guy near me has it running a safc and bigger injectors and making 580 bhp from around £2k!!

You had a GTST did'nt you ? They are a different kettle. Much more hardwork to tune that a GTR or Zed. They start with 250hp, and cant increase boost much because of ceramic turbo blades and high compression ratio.

no

You.........are a star.

The way I see it.....Anyone can make any car go like a rocket if they have the resources but at the end of the day. Its still just a toymotor and if you are happy to drive around in an inferior car that may or may not go faster than a 300ZX. its your choice. We obviously dont choose to do so. therefore let him win and tell him it don't matter because you will be (in the words of Black Belt Jones) "TOO BUSY LOOKING GOOD".

We do have a lack of highpowered Zed's in the UK. Thats changing though :) In the U.S its a different story though.

ME to that is really nice

thats right bud my mate has that in his poobra 700 bhp to much power on wet roads, you will beat him cause when the boost kicks in all he will do is spin and swerve even on a slightly damp road hes fooked, but bone dry hes gone

A mate of mine has a single turbo supra, has 592 rwhp!

Is an absolute animal, its lambo orange, with

a do-luck kit & wheels, you may have seen it at japfest last year.

But, as said before, unless it's bone dry, it justs snakes

all over the place, & thats with racelogic tc!

Even early morning dew on the roads make it slide!

Toyota knew exactly what they had to beat in the z, both

the mk4 supra & z were due for release @ similar times, nissan

launched the z32 first, mister t then went back to the

drawing board to completely redesign the mk4 supra, released

some 3-4 yrs later eventually.

had a brown trouser moment with my supra last night mildly damp road hit boost in third at 70+mph and lost the arse end snaking up the road then after i had got it back under control the traction control desides its going to take over, never had this prob with the 300 it always felt glued to the road and very predictable.

the TC on the supra may aswell not be there :headvswal

Legrath.. heres what i did to take it to 405bhp @ 1bar (mapped at THOR)

rebuilt stock turbo - 500 (steel wheels, 360 bearings etc.)

hks fmic - 500

nismo 555cc injectors - 370

apexi avc-r boost controller - 220

power FC + commander - 450

installation + mapping of PFC - 350

walbro fuel pump - 80

K&N panel filter - 50

Z32 AFM - 100

£2620 + 200 to fit bits..

£2820 to go from 250bhp to a proven 405bhp

a mate of mine in ireland had the same set up, but he had the steel headgasket and ran his at 1.3bar, made 480bhp...

the GTS-T in my opinion is pretty tunable... i think the Z also is but its just me being used to the ways of the skyline that makes me believe they arent.. lol..

i'n not gunna touch my motor tho i dont think, gaz had what was needed done to it, its running 14psi and probably about 320 - 350 which is more then enough for me as its not power with this one i'm interested in..
