Just fitted boost jets (1mm) but not getting any extra boost :( . I fitted them to the pipes that go into the boost pipes closest to the radiator, is that right. Still getting around 7 PSI.

As an after thought, could it be running on safety boost ?? I've just re-checked th ejet fitting guide and sure that I have them in the right place..

to replace the det sensor its plenum off fuel rail etc

but you could get a resistor and bridge it across the det sensor plug cost about 50p if that, only downside is you wont hear any dett do a seach on how to then safety boost will be removed

Running a chip from Andy P. Mapped for filter, straight through zorst and more boost but still have a standard zorst on it at present. Also advanced the timing by about 1 degree. Not getting any back-firing or anything else odd, no warning lights, seems like nothings wrong but no boost over around 7 PSI.

I like the resistor idea, is there a link to the mod anywhere M8 ?

Found one now..

stock is 9.5 psi. safety mode restricts boost to 7psi and retards your timing. Big difference between safety mode performance and stock, You'll get quite a shock when its fixed and running increased boost ! :)

Do an ECU check to get error code : http://www.ttzd.com/tech/diagnostictech.html This will tell you the fault, and from there on it can be repaired.

Could also be boost leak

If you have boost jets which raises your max boost by say 25%, then your safety boost will also be raised by approx 25%.

Dett sensor failure would be indicated by an ECU fault code.

Is your boost gauge an accurate one ?

It seems good. Was reading about 9 or 10 psi flat out before I fitted the jets and did the timing.

I'm going to do a ECU check in the morning and see what it comes up with, I'll post the results up here.

Cheers.

Right. Tested the car again today and it's working great. Boosting to about 12 PSI and excellerating better than ever. It actually feels like I wanted it to now...Very confused, pleased but very confused. Oh well, if it aint broke don't fix it. Does anyone have any ideas what was wrong yesterday though that corrected itself today ??

iff the car goes into safe mode then just pull over and turn ign off, restart car and all boost should be resumed. I screamed up the m6 today for about 30 mins in and out of full boost  16psi overcome the stock intercoolers and hey presto "safe mode" :headvswal  had to pull onto hard shoulder to restart car to resume full boost and drove the rest of way a little slower, which makes me even more determend to get a hks front i/c. Start upping the boost and your worst enemy is going to be intake temp mate
