On a 92 Jap import N/A what was the maximum it would rev to before the rev limmiter was removed ie: a chip??

Reason I asked is when I had a chance to boot it last it was all stock ie: speed limmiter, revs restricted etc, and I did'nt look at the revs when it cut out.

ive never hit a limiter on mine!!

I do'nt ever remember hitting a limmiter on mine either, but one of the advantages of this chip I have is it removes the rev limmiter?????

ive always been concerned of removing the rev limiter its there for a reason. i thought that you shouldn't go into the red section on the counter as engine damage could occur..

thats what i have always been told anyway!

if im booting it i change gear about 6k rpm

lol advice from someone who can't afford to rebuild there engine if it goes pop tho

ok heres some info from an aircraft engineers point of view

The red zone is not usable in normal circumstances

It can be used for a limited period in exceptional circumstances

the limits for this use will vary but in the aircraft world pulling max power into the red zone is for seconds only and then results in extensive engine testing afterwards.

Feel free to try it but dont worry about engine life as you wont really have any without extensive engine mods to cope with additional stresses

The red zone is not usable in normal circumstances

Agreed!

Approaching the finish gantry at Santa pod is not normal circumstances.

Sooooooooooooo!!! Using 7500 or so is allowed.

Done around 40 passes so far without damage. But.....One day!!!! :wack:

And the spectators will all chant. :xxx: :xxx: .

But WTF you only live once :)

So after all this does anybody know what the advantage of a chip removing the rev limmiter and what was the revs limited to on a 92 Jap import N/A??

The advantage is if u have a balanced and lightened crank and crankshaft it will rev quicker and higher with a higher degree of safety.

forgot to add with other mods of course

Stock TT rev limit is 6800. Most chips raise the limit to 7200. You wont want to go past this stock injectors.

I expect its the same for the NA. Although the NA has its powerband higher up the rev range your still out of the peak power band by then so there is no real point in going past the limit. It will give you a few mph more in each gear, but is more than likely slower than actually changing at a lower rpm.

With a TT, with different turbo's a higher rev limit allows you to make more use of the higher power band.
