best speaking to AndyP as he does them mate...

You wont get ripped off that way...

Was it Andy who did mine??? I cant remember.... I want to upgrade mine further.. and I dont think it added 20bhp.. but not sure...

Hey ANDY did you fit mine??? if not who was it.. I drove along way to get it done....

got ripped of by this guy on ebay no chip, said he dropped it on the way to post office and offered a refund 2 months on and still no refund and he,s insisting refund has been paid into my paypal account.

recieved refund this evening so appologies due.

Andy... the chip you put in is great.... did you say i can do anything further with it... ie add more stuff to the one put in...

sorry to kill the thread.. but i didnt know what else to do to increase its bhp.. pm me with your thoughts please... and pps.. hows the 350 going?? lol

The one you had is the best I know of for an NA, all the other gains will come from the expensive stuff like increasing the compression ratio, cams, headers etc. Start saving ! ;)

Thanks bud,.... I knew it wasnt gonna be cheap.. what was it again... was it in a race or drift car??? cant remember but wanna put the name etc in my rides section... with a thank you to you... of course.

It was one of the free ones downloadable from here :- http://ztechz.net/id9.html

does this mean i can connect to my laptop after buying software etc.. and adjust the settings on my car?

sorry kinda dumb about these things.. you know..lol

With a ConZult you can do some stuff like that, but for adjusting the ECU maps you need different kit.

I think Racelogic sell an eprom simulator, which you can plug in and modify the maps etc on the fly. Sounds fun.

Then you save the modified map back to a standard Eprom and plug it into the ECU.

Andy you have pm regarding this chip.

just spend all afternoon reading up about this... i'm ready for my exam now!!!

...and the last place i worked in had an eprom writer. would have been handy about now!!!

I was told by the guys at Zworld that i'm runing and minor tweek aftermarket chip (?), I'm hoping therefore that my ECU has been socketed (i will check). Can someone supply me with / and what would the cost be for an eprom with the 310z.bin file on it?

Thank you please

how much does a chip cost? how much more horse power do u get?

Usually between £50-£100 They ensure proper fuelling and timing for increase boost, but its actually the boost increase that gives the majority of the power increase.

Some chips run safer (less power), others offer more power with leaner fuel mixture and more advanced timing, but more risk of detting.

AndyP, John Dixon, Ztech, Zen, DTA can all provide different Chip options.

I'm all for capitolism and that's a fair price if they're building you a custom AFM map taylored to your specific car. But if all you're getting for your £50 is a free downloadable map (that someone over in japan has spent hours of their time and effort building and is decent enough to demand nothing in return but that his maps be shared FOR FREE!!), written to an eprom that costs less than a fiver using a machine that costs less than 200quid... that's just a little mean IMHO! :smash:

In that case I'm sure you'd be happy to know that I've never charged for the "free" chips, only the cost of the chip itself and usually a charge to fit it, if the ECU needs socketing.

My ECU maps are not copies, I bought the rights.

Anyway, if you have a writer then you can write the free image for yourself.

...that would be an absolute bargain of the century if it was a custom remap. Looking at more like £200-£1000 for that.

My comments were not aimed at any specific traders but:

AndyP - Good on you(!) and I don't have a writer, hence my earlier request (which seems to have fallen on deff ears) for anyone who could help me out by doing just that.

Legrath - At least reply to my entire quote, (rather than pick bits off and state the obvious!) which incidentally was made to highlight the chips at the lower end of the spectrum and possibly evem those found on fleebay, that some people (present company excluded, obviously) seem to be over charging for.

My response was only in relation to your first comment, hence why I did'nt include your entire post! ....and was meant to be a helpfull advice.

 ...umm ok, well to correct your confusion, There are no traders selling chips with freeware style downloaded maps of the internet.(that Im aware of)

AndyP sells Nisstek chips with full ownership.

John Dixon maps his own chips

Ztech and zen can supply and fit chips based on the expensive ($500) jwt ecu and Mines varieties.

DTA sale their own mapped chips

none of the above are custom maps to your specific car or freebie chips. John Dixon can however offer full Dyno mapped Chips for your specific car.

I'm happy to write you a chip, with that image, PM/email me your address.

Thanks Andy :)

I appologise if I seemed a little off (maybe just a little BA with less jewlery) and I'll be the first to admit I do occaisonally get on my high horse and crusade in the name of the righteous, but i was a bit taken aback by my coments being quoted out of context and doused with sarcasm.

Reading that guys page about ecu remapping has opened up a new and overwhelming world of knowledge. Which should be what this forum is for discussing... right?

So the freware maps that i studied yesterday seem to cover most of the angles... How much more can you expect to gain by paying for a more expesive one?

I dont have a clue how much more you will gain. I know mine (that AndyP) fitted..made a hell of a differance. I would love to take out my ecu.. or what ever and swop it on a rolling road to see what differance a stock.. the one Andy sold me and these "more expensive" ones does.

Maby we should get together... those with without chips and find out.. settle this once and for all.

I am a VERY happy customer with Andy... although never met him before I wanted a chip... and havnt seen him since.. I consider andy to be a great honest and professinal guy. I feel that spending the time, fuel, and the cost of him fitting this chip was more than worth while. Andy only charged for the fitting .. and to be honest.. he deserved alot more... because mine was a pain in the A55. (thanks Andy)

I have not tryed any other companys... for no other reason than I was on a budget and heard at the time.. by other members.. NOT andy... that there was no point.... how true this is I do not know.. but Lets get a dyno and swop proms or what ever the things are called to do a test....

Whos up for it.. any traders wanna spouncer this if you think you got a great chip....

lets see what happens... i am wanting to know.. and if your (traders..) chip is better than the rest this will show and you will get alot more business of course..

let see then.

What I can do for you is a dual switched map, that way you can swap between the original and the tuned maps with the flick of a switch - makes back to back dyno runs really easy. Have done this for a few people now and been running it on my car for a few years.

You could also use one of the maps for say a 'valet' mode - like seriously restricted speed and rev limiter for when you leave it with a garage all day.
