Nope, but what about this previous thread.

How can they find his actions dangerous in light of that, mind you they will now probably through the book at him because he is a police officer.

How on earth is he now going to be able to get a fair trial. I reckon it will be difficult to find a jury that hasn't heard something about this high profile case.

quite right too. The main reason they are so keen on keeping the speed limit down is they say speed kills. If speed kills then is this guy not affected by the same things as us such as people pulling out on him, stuff on the road, car defects etc?

I hope they do his dumb ass then maybe people will see that cops are not abovbe the law!!!!!!

I agree that police and other emergancy services need to be trained in high speeds. And appreciate that it is essential for there jobs. HOWEVER.... this can be done on air fields. etc.. where the public is NOT at risk. Being a X paramedic I was trained in high speeds.. I also understand the importance of driving safely. All my training was done in a SAFE enviorment where the public was NOT at risk. And my addrenline was not flowing quickly..... So his responce and his solicitors reply is really rubbish.

Hope he gets done for that!!!!!

Saw it on the news last night The Man has abused his position on duty but not on call, Testing new patrol car at 150+ at night !

Sack him and custodial sentance minimum

You try doing 150+ at night and see what happens to you.

Fook him hes taking the piss :headvswal

Well lets just hope the police don't start driving to rule and refuse to exceed the speed limits when responding to emergencies!

"Sack him and custodial sentance minimum"

Now Don't get me wrong I have had issues with Traffic Cops before

But in the interest of fairness can I ask if you would want the outcome to be so severe If it was one of us on here. I Know No one is going to say but have a think at what top speed you have done (On your Private road) ;)

Then there will be people reporting their car stolen, asking the police if it's been found and getting the response - yes, we saw it but it was speeding so we let it go.

IMO He was not training he was taking the piss and got caught. Yampiedog. Sorry bud but I cant se your point mate. The police do a great job and I personally am grateful but why should they be allowed to do what we aint? If they want to train the police to drive at high speed there are plenty of tracks and places they can do so. He is 38, I was driving at over 100MPH before he had left school so I am IMO a more experianced driver than he is But if I got caught doing 159 MPH they would lock the door and throw away the key.

Vini

Agree with what you are saying "one law for us all"

But If you could get away with it or knew someone on here that had

wouldn't most be glad for them. The emotion in this case is because he is a

Copper.

Exactly my point, no one says lock up the Porsche driver for doing 150mph.

No Mick. What I am annoyed with mate is that he got caught and then they said its was because he was a copper that it wasnt wrong. if anyone on here got caught I would probably feel sorry for them but at the end of the day its their own fault. :)

Fair Point Mate

because he is a

Copper.

should have known better shouldnt he

i agree they need to speed to catch criminals but he said he was getting familiar with the car, not learning with another officer-for viewing assinstance to learn how to drive at high speeds in an unfamiliar vehicle

maybe it was what he said or how he said it that pisses people off the most, then getting away with it

just my opinion BTW

That's not entirely accurate. Somebody local posted about the poor state of the road in question, and how it was completely insane to be doing that kind of speed on it. Not to mention the fact he was uninsured. I'm not necessarily saying lock him up, but some form of punishment in the form of fine/points/ban etc is probably appropriate in both cases.

I agree, if he was found guilty in a court of law then he should be punished, however a jury decided that he was not on the facts presented to them. We must also remember that we are not in possession of the full facts, we are only getting what the press are telling us. Furthermore, how many cases are sent back to court and retried, not many, what a waste of taxpayers money.

whilst most of us on here have probably done a ton or more on the motorway i cant comment on it but i for one wouldnt do over 3x the speed limit in a built up area for that alone he should get at least reckless or dangerous driving i mean over 90mph in a 30 zone is asking for trouble and i dont care how well trained you are !!! IMHO

errrmm?!

ps. I'm off to a speed awareness course tomorrow actually. Already learnt my lesson mind when I got my ninth point.

sory the same law has to apply for both the police officer and the spoiled little rich kid in teh porche.

smites of a political with hunt, even if the copper in question was more than likely pulling a fast one. The one thing that doesnt come up as part of his defence is that his boss knew he was doing it and had OK it.

even so. it was at night, there where no cars, the same law must apply

A West Mercia Police spokesman said it would be "inappropriate to comment" after the High Court referred the case back to a lower court.

But he added: "In West Mercia, clear guidelines which ensure that all advanced drivers know what they can and cannot do when driving vehicles above the posted speed limit - in accordance with national training guidelines - have been circulated."

The guidelines allow for officers to exceed limits, but never to drive at more than 120mph.

So they'll back off past 120 then

Anyone getting caught doing 150 MPH should be punished you me the twat or the copper. If a copper IS chasing a criminal then thats a totally different kettle of fish. AND. it wasnt brought before a jury the first time I believe it was at a magistrates court? (might be wrong) the trouble with it is the copper should be setting an example (i dont care what anyone thinks about that) its a fact.

BUT! I dont think that doing 150MPH should be classed as dangerous driving. (IMO) Taking the piss and speeding yes! but not dangerous driving.

Just to add. My mate got done for 99 MPH on the M6 toll and was told "1 MPH more and he would have been automatically banned. :headvswal

 I Dont think the rules should be the same for the police if they are on a live emergency call, There cant be that many cases where you would need to drive at 159 MPH in an unmarked car at night ?, i however think this particular copper has used his position as an excuse for speeding !

I would have no hesitation in calling the police if my car or house was broken into or stolen etc. And when my car was stolen it took 3 days for them to respond with a phone call asking me to come in and make a statment as they were under pressure to come out and interview me. They never came to the garage to dust for prints etc and as far as they were concerned it was not a big deal.

The motorist is generally an easy target. If i was caught speeding at 159mph i would expect a sentance and all the shit that comes with it. Sympathy would not be something i would be looking for, simply because i am aware of the law in this country and as such if i break the law i have to bite the bullet and take whatever comes as a result. I think the police struggle to do the job given to them .That is not my fault !!

When one copper does something like this it only adds to the injustice served on everyday people, like you and me everyday of the week.

When a police officer does something like this he has to expect whats comming to him.

The Law applies to everyone
