Was doing about 5mph and it went this morning, taking the car to Redline to have a new one put on, just siting and waiting to hear if the engine is ok or not :( :headvswal

The tapping could have been a bit of the cambelt de-laminating and touching the cover !

Thanks guys, hate all this waiting about not knowing. I know Scott at Redline wouldn't mind me standing over his shoulder and watching but would feel out of order. Did that when he swapped my gearbox out, poor sod.

I aint saying "I told you so" coz I didnt Nick. But it just goes to show that when you buy a 300ZX then it pays to have that job done without fail. I am sick for you mate and I hope it hasnt done TOO MUCH damage. I had mine changed when i bought it. Spilt milk now though mate. :bow:

Yup, was already booked in for the 9th of Feb to have it done with a few other bits and bobs. Ah well, thats life.

Gutted for ya mate. Hope all is well.

 

Mine was replaced when I bought it, although the tensioner was checked, it wasn't replaced, something I'll doo fairly soon.

tensioner should be replaced with cambelt every time,that fails sometimes before the belt :(

hopefully nick due to the low speed no damage would of been caused,even though tolerances are tight you may be lucky,seen a few zs that have had a damaged timing belt and haven been fine when new belt and tensioner was fitted

It was checked along with the water pump. It will be replaced soon.

i hope you have the same luck as me !!!!

i bought a 300 with the cam belt gone and when i got it stripped down the engine was fine :bow: just 1 cam had locked up due to lack of oil
