PMSL Sorry should have siad..."SENSIBLE ANSWERS PLEASE". I have been told that my I.A.V. on my other car could be causing a problem. Thanks Vinz never knew you was a junkie?

I know what causes surging on a Volvo, its a common problem, let me just rack my brain to remember what its called. I cured mine by cleaning out the valve with carb cleaner, its on the front of the engine from memory, dont suppose you have a picture of your Volvo engine bay do you?

Air idle control valve, its usually on the front of the engine under a black plastic cover and is actually a Vauxhall part hence a common problem, if Volvo made their own it wouldnt play up. :D

Thanks for the link mate...muchly. Funny if you have read it all? I have had the car go into safety mode (limp home) when I was in fookin Blackpool about 200 miles away  the other thing is that the steering does sometimes when "shunting" seem to loose the power assistance? also the air con when on makes a sort of loud clump noise when it kicks in and out. So it seems that I may have that problem? FFS more fookin money that I wanted to spend on me zed.

I do so much love the luxury of the Volvo tho. and it performs well too when its not broke LOL.

cheers mate I owe you one.

idle air valve mate, but know by other names!-Try as advised first bud and give it a clean but really should be 'sonic' cleaned by a specialist.

Obviously best bet is to try another one-good luck! ;)
