How can you tell if one spark plug isn't ...sparking?

Is there a simple way? or have I got to take them all out and try again :headvswal ?

With the engine running disconnect the coil pack plugs one at a time, you should notice a change in the sound of the engine on all but the dodgy cylinder.

On a motorbike, you can spray something (eg WD40) on the headers with the engine running. The one where the plug's not working will be cold so won't give off smoke where you've sprayed - the others will.

Dunno if they're accessible on t'Nissan tho!

well ive done that and the noise changes on all of them now (thanks for the tip), but theres a lot more vibration on the new set of spark plugs and the idle is a bit up and down, any ideas?

What plugs you put in (part number)?

I gapped them myself, I got the plugs from the local parts supplier, he handed over a set of 6 NGK BCPR6ES plugs, and said they need gapping to 1.1mm. This is the non-turbo version so he assured me they were the ones to use, is that right?

BCPR6ES??

Never been mentioned on this site before mate, do a search. I think you need to take them out ASAP and do a search on here for the correct ones and get your man to swap them for free.

Looks like you need NKG PFR6B-11 for an N/A

contact smithy hes got the plugs you need in stock

These plugs are actually recommended on the NGK website though guys, are they really rubbish or something? will I need to get a good set?

NGK website shows them for the 84-90 Z31. not the Z32. They are the incorrect plugs.

shite lol. I'll get em changed first thing in the morning. I doubt He'll have them in stock though, does anyone know if h@lfords will? I want to get them in tomorrow or I'd order some from smithy. Thanks for all your help guys.

I`m hoping ya don`t get a belt whilst pulling those coils , as one tends to do with normal plug connectors ! :(

Not suggesting Gareth B gets some kind of sexual gratification from the that notion LOL . It`s more to do with an experience I had while being looked after by older kids of family friends while our folks were out , when I was ickle . They got me to put my thumb in the hall-light socket by standing half-way up the stairs...said it was great . Nothing happened . " Ya gotta touch both things " , they said , not being versed in electrical jargon . So I did . Nearly yanked me ickle fookin` arm off !!! Never forgotten that feelin` . LOL

So , given my perfectly rational fear of being electro-plated , " Iss it SAFE ? "

Sub editor`s note : before the word " notion " in the second line , please choose either the word " the " or " that " .

Suggest taking more water with it !

Its perfectly safe mate as long as you only touch rubber or something, if theres a bare wire or it looks sus dont go near it. I've had my fair share of electronic mishaps too, the last one was while unplugging the broken NTL box. Just after it was *unplugged* I happened to touch the back of the box with my hand and WHACK! an electric shock like ive never had before (and I've had a mains one or two). To my amazement, after gingerly plugging it back in, the broken box burst into life and displayed on the the front of it in big ruddy yellow letters "NLT"!!!, not without their sense of humour these NTL cable box engineers are they.
