Will I need the tesioners and idlers??

I would if i were you, after all that work you could put it all back together and have an idler bearing go and need to do the whole job again.

And skf are probably one of the best bearing manufacturers in the world (they make the wheel bearings for the Ferrari F1 team FFS!!!) and all their kits have a Gates belt in them, also well known for quality.

Nissan quoted me £240 plus vat for the full kit.

Quite a saving :hyper: I do'nt suppose the link to removing the tensioners and idlers is in the tt net guide is it?? Or is that a simple job?? As I am going a lot deeper than I intended now but what the hell. :duffer:

dont take this the wrong way,but avoid gates alltogether had a z a few weeks ago the teeth on the gates belt were worn away to nothing, stay away, unless you want a costly bill down the line

nissan oem belts IMO

Surely for the belt to have the teeth worn off it, that must be down to a dicky tensioner making it not sit right on the pulleys.

And as the gates belt has took major punishment and not snapped, that must be a testament to its stregnth not a fault with it.

approx £40 mate

tensioner was fine by the way, what i meant was even though 6 or 7 teeth were missing from the belt you could just pick the teeth off very poor quality IMO and luckily for the customer no damage was done.

Well i sell hundreds of gates belts a month and have never seen a single warranty claim for one.

They also make most OEM belts for the manufacturers, i'll look into it tomorrow, ill p1ss myself if it turns out they make Nissans.

just saying what i seen and if it warns someone of one of the most important components on a car failing then so be it,wether you have a gates belt fitted good for you

Ok Ok a phone call to Mike Tommorow then.

Think what they mean is get an OEM kit

Which is Timing belt, tensioner and both idlers.

Upto you what you buy bud, i dont make on these, i can get them through my work, yes ive got one on my car and i inspected the kit and found it to be top quality.

Ive fitted loads of Gates belts on cars, never no probs? 1 of the best belts around IMO. Gates are OE for loads of manufacturers, & no worse than a nissan belt i would say. Thought there was only about 4 belt makers anyway?

QH is crap IMO (on occasions anyway), but its all down to personal experiance i recon.

Steve

if your timing belt snaps will the pistons hit the valves on this car?

bump
