i have a 1992 300zx tt, problems are, tyres wearing on rear on the outside edges, vibration over 30mph and up to 80mph, skips to the left or right when going over large bumps.

Thought it was hicas or rods coming from hydraulic, jacked car up (no play in wheels)

disarmed hicas, still same problems.

checked shocks, there fine

if anyone has any advice on what this will or could be then please help.

cheers

Not sure but isnt vibration usually caused by the prop shaft, could it be this??? also get a 4 point camber check done.

Disabling Hicas wont have an affect, as the cause is almost always the outer hicas bushes, rather than the Hicas unit itself. But if its not the Hicas bushes, then the next most likely cause will be worn rear shocks.

Other than leaking, there are no visible signs of worn shocks, and zed's are usually too heavy to do the "bounce test". If they are the original shocks, they ARE worn!

Worth getting a full 4wheel alignment check too

got to be shock then, bugger lol. just need to find some now

The Z Centre (trader on this site) does genuine Nissan ones for £30 each.

looky here

I had a very simular problem but mine didnt jump? it was just a bit wobbly and it vibrated. I checked my tyres and the offside rear felt funny over the tread like it was kind of uneven???. I changed it...Problem solved. So it could be a tyre problem?

I know its a completely different car but my Eunos roadster was all over the road when i got it.new set of yres and laser alignment cured it all straight away.

I had the exact problem not to long ago. Replacing the rear shocks cured problem completely. I put on some aftermarket Konis all around. Car now feels like its on rails.

Sy.

Sounds like rear camber to me, standard they do adjust abit, i would get all wheels set-up at a tyre place.

i thought it may be my 20's but ive had them on the car for a good 6 months but its only been the past 2 months where these problems have begun.

so it could be either, shocks, camber or wheel alignment then??

i'm gonna take a stab and say it's either the outer rear hicas bal joints or the hicas arms or even could be rear anti roll bar rubbers mine jumped about on the back end, pulled to one side and all sorts of wierd things took it to a garage and found both rear balljoints had play, rear hicas arm was goosed and 2 of the anti roll bar rubbers were missing did all that job sorted

this is looking expensive lol.

'White-zed' quote sounds possible, personally i would take to GOOD tyre/wheel alignment, then if not better get someone knowledgable to check the rear area

I had the same problem before Christmas, it used to jump over pot holes drains ect ect. It got to the stage that it was undrivable, anyway it turned out to be the Hicas arms and shocks. Now the rear of my car handles perfect. :hyper:
