How much play are you meant to have in the wiper arm assembly??

As above, as today when I finnaly managed to pull my wiper arms off I noticed there was a fair bit of play in the passenger side wiper arm?? I have looked into the gap where the mechanism is but nothing really jumps out at me to why it wobbles so. Some times I used to notice when the wipers where on the passenger side one would come dowm over the scuttle when I turned the wipers off.?? Thanks in advance guys.

Don't think they are supposed to have much play. Mine are solid as a rock. Infact the whole thing has a 'newness' feel to it.

So when you grab hold of the passenger side wiper and wobble the base there is no movement  What could be wrong with mine then?? The wipers work fine just the passenger one wobbles

If any of you guys get a chance please can you go and wobble your passenger side wiper at the bottom to see if it wobbles under the scuttles and post replys. Cheers.

Either your spindles are worn  -or the linkage assy, or both! :o :D

You sure the wiper arm is tight on the spindle?

The wipers where stuck tight on the spindles, the bit that woobles is the part that has the actual linkage assy, because if I look through into the where the linkage assy is the metal rods move as well, how do I tighten it???
