I know it's not a Z but has anyone tried this (more conventional) type of DV fittment?

Don't see why it wouldn't work albeit a bit tight for space, but atleast they'd be in view.

ive seen that type of fitment on a Z before. not sure where you get the pipes from but give danny @ dta motorsport a shout. he'll be able to help you out.

did you buy those as a kit for the ZX? or did you make it up and if so what did you do about the stock recircs?

sorry to be a pain but i got a couple of DV's just trying to figure out how/what i need to fit them.

Cheers guys

I got them as a kit, but you can buy a set of stainless pipes with the BOV flanges to replace the rubber ones from DTA in the traders section.

I removed the recircs and bloked up the hoses to them.

Nice one! that's what i was after and some extra bling in the engine bay!!!

Cheers Baz

Here's mine, Blow-off valves plumbed into the top intake pipes near the throttle bodies same as the Vipers..

just noticed your dump valves are in a different place to sc007's on his old zed, am i wrong or????? does it matter where they go??

Meeee toooo :D

I would assume the closer they are mounted to the point of pressure the more accurate/quicker the release point will be ;)

Depends on what you want buddy Functionality or a longer lasting noise!! :D

The correct postion and this is the way the WRC and Rally boys do is to put them is as close to the throttle bodies as possible so that when you lift off the accelerator and the throttle bodies close the unused air hasen't got far to travel and gets DUMPED out of the intake pipes imedeatly reducing lag and keeping your Turbo's spinning at a higher RPM, in other words a Quick Dump so when you get back on it from a gear change you got instant ooooph!!!

If you place them on the bottom pipes then when the throttle bodies close all that compressed air has to travel back through the top intake pipes, down through the intercoolers then through up through the bottom mass of pipe only to be dumped.. (Will give a longer dump and a better noise) the only problem is when you get back on the accelerator all that mass of undumped air still in the pipe has to be accelerated again down through the bottom pipes, into the intercoolers then up through the top intake pipes feeding the engine!!!

IMHO fitting them this way really defeats the object of fitting blow off valves as you get major turbo lag due to the remaing air in the pipes having to be pressurised and accelrated again and major compressor drag from the turbos when there fitted this way.. Yes you still get the noise but you may as well stick with the standard recirc's valves for any perormance gains your gonna get... :smash:

I think the only reason people fit them on the bottom pipes is because of easy installation and there is more room to get the blow off valves in there... On the top intake pipes there is no way I would have been able to fit mine if I still had the viscous coupled fan installed and the fan sharoud... There just isn't room... If your gonna do a job properly....... and all that!!!! :D

lol..exactly as said above :D

except there is a life long argument about any actual performance increase from BOV's and I still have the fan shroud and viscous coupling fan  :x:

TBH...I just luuuuuuuurrrve that noise :nana2:

That's cause you got tiny ones!!!! :D I bought my dump valves thinking they would be standard size then realised they wern't gonna fit where I wanted them cause they are so much bigger so then ended up getting a Kenlow electric fan and ditching the power sapping viscous coupling fan!!! Expensive business just to get my valves fitted!!! ;)

Those are identical to the DV's i have :hyper:

So where did you get the insert/collars for the intake pipes from

or if anyone knows off-hand what the inside bore diameter of those pipes are i can find them myself, without me having to hack the pipes first, cause i thing they taper don't they?.

ive got (awaiting delivery) some of the Apexi twin chamber DV's, I would prefer these to be fitted just before the throttle bodies but the kit is to fit them down next to the front of the bumper.

How much would i kit to put them next to the TB's cost and is it worth it?

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

Anyone know a rough estimate of how much getting dump valves fitted would cost? Including the valves?

If i can get all the bits i need to do mine at the right price... I might be able to offer a complete kit (DV x 2, All plumbing to fit including bungs, vacuum hoses,t-pieces and instructions) for around £150.

ello :wack:

They were allready on the Zed when I bought it im afraid...I havnt a clue..sorry :(

:x: ok people are these D/V Bovs actually doing anything on an Auto or just work on a manual i know they reduce lag on a manwell but wot do they do on an auto or are they just cosmetic :headvswal

The zed has recirculating valves as standard (dump valves that send the air back into the intake system instead of venting to amosphere).

The only reason for changing to Dump valves/BOV's is for the noise. Unless your power output is above the handling capabilities of the stock Recirc Valves(600hp+)

In fact, BOV's are technically not as efficient as Recircs, although your unlikely to notice the difference.

On a Manual you will get the noise on every gear change when you release your foot from the accelerator. With an Auto you will only get the noise if you deliberalty lift off the accelerator, rather than with every gear change (wether thats a 'pro' or 'con' is up to you).

The best location is as close as possible to the throttle bodies. However Some fit them in the stock recirc location for ease of instalation.

Danny @DTA can supply Hard pipes with BOV's flanges welded in.

 Cheers Legrath now i know why i aint fitted them no point if it dont go faster IMHO :x:

My truck has D/V`s fitted sounds amazing in a tunnel at full throttle need to keep the revs up when pulling 200 tonne
