Hi,

Wonder if any body can shed any light on this for me.

Set the TPS at 0.42v.

Removed the g/box sump, drained the oil, cleaned the filter and new oil fitted.

Disconnected the battery to clear any stored codes.

Gearbox was rebuilt a few years back, by a specialist.

Now here comes the problem !!

When driving normally, and engine at normal temp, she changes gear at 3000rpm, and a little bit too severe for my liking.

Also when picking away from lights or a junction, she seems to rev a bit higher than she seems to be moving !! If that makes sense !

Over the pit at work, I noticed there was a few square drive adjusters coming from the box. Are any of these for adjusting the brake bands ???

Is it possible to run a diagnostic test on the g/box ECM ??

Any info or links would be gratefully recieved.

Wonder who will be the 1st to say; Time for a manual box !!!

Cheers guys,

Alan......

I think the speedo convertor that was on it was causing it to an extent, with that on, even when warm it would not change out of first till 4000rpm pulling away from lights or something, which is a bit silly. All the diagnostics checked out fine though.

Interesting thought but my autobox did this behaviour JUST before it died and took the prop-shaft bearing at the same time. The bottom line is these boxes are 13+ years old and they were at the design limit of horsepower and auto-boxes when they were designed (read z enthusiasts guidebook).

Most of our cars (whether we admit it or not) have got autobox timebombs in them. Note adding and HKS ALC :( just accelerates the demise. If you have an auto; start saving now is my advice. If you want to convert to manual do it but if (like me you favour an auto in this big GT car) then get it upgraded & re-built. Mine is right now at Ryans (Z tech) getting the autobox upgrade/re-build. The upside is that the engine is a great design. Mine checked out at 14 years old with great compression, zero oil leaks and sweet as a nut. With its new turbos, oil pump, water pump, belts and autobox I am hoping for another 100,000kms with no sweat.

Heres to being re-united
