ive just read that all modified cars in ireland would soon be deemed illegal, if a new proposed law comes into play

junior transport minister-ivor calley (the countrys vehicle chief) is reportedly trying to get rid of "boy racers" from the roads by tightening up the national car test.

all cars with biger exhausts, tinted windows, and cars with additional sound, will be deemed illegal if he gets his own way

i dont know if this is true (i read it in maxpower), but surely this cant be done, the world is going crazy, ive always thought that people like us (who modify our cars) look after them better than anyone else. granted some boy racers drive like twats and should be banned but this law surely justs makes a mockery of our justice system

if he gets away with it in ireland, whats to say our transport chief wont take up on the idea. there should be a law to stop these laws lol

anyway rant over

I think in ten years we will all be driving boring little 1.0 shitboxes because they will price everything else off the road,.

Oh unless your a politician or royalty you will still be ok to use your jags and bentleys at the tax payers expense!!!

There should be a law that keep fooked up idiots like him locked up in a cellar where we can feed him with a catapult...

I am sick of idiots that don't drive on the roads making laws about how we should be using them..

Does that mean that we will get a reduction on our car tax since we are restricted to what we can do with our cars? No, fookin thought not...dumb ass politicians...we should stop voting for these fools...

its totally getting out of hand, like paul said, they get away with driving huge gas guzzling cars that cost thousands to run and buy, we pay our road tax so why the fook should they tell us what to do

luckily we dont live in france because you cant drive a performance enhanced car (they are illegal)

probably a good thing cos the French are just fookin dumb and shouldn't be allowed cars...lol

yeah your probably right lol

Something similar is being proposed for classic and modified cars in the UK. Read it in this month's Classic Ford magazine. The DVLA are proposing new rules for "radically altered vehicles" to go through special tests (allegedly the MOT tester would be obliged to report such a vehicle, and take note of any modications, allowing the DVLA to have a database of modified cars and decide who has to take a seperate test). Basically, it is like a Single Vehicle Approval they are proposing for modified cars, a very stringent test.

The proposal document can be read at http://www.dvla.gov.uk/public/consult/summary_inspection_procedures.htm

i dont think it will work, there is no way a tester can be expected to know every single car made and exactly what its origional spec was. especially older ones. I think they will just keep turning the heat up on emissions levels etc.

This fookin country is turning into switzerland. without the snow topped mountains.

I think the big exaust & hard pipes would give him a bit of a clue...... :D

Then it would be look at the chip time..... :(

hi mate you saying this cheers me up, not in the way that there gunna ban cars, but i put up a post a few weeks back now about sumthing like this in england, that modded cars will have to go through a rigarus test likt kit cars do, and most of them dont pass first time.

everyone said i was talking shit, since then i have been speaking to dvla and it is true england northern ireland ireland and wales are bringing this law in, when i do not know but IT IS COMING IN.

if anyone's actually read the DVLA site it's talking about radically altered vehicles (which it defines) - at the moment the changes are more to do with unsafe vehicles, and vehicles which should be SVA's and/ or Q- plated, AND NO MORE.

it's true that the UK may follow suit, but not under the proposals eveyone's quoting. You gotta remember, it'd be a shit story in MaxTwats if they didn't elaborate a little to make a story!
