after seeing to a 3000 GTO in the rain last night (he has 4wd as well !!) i had to brake a bit sharpish, and since then i've had this brake problem....

when i slow down to a complete stop, then i get a clunk just before i stop dead.

doesn't matter if i brake hard or soft, or how fast or slow i am going, just the moment before dead stop gives the clunk.

any ideas anyone ?

before i start taking wheels off and things... ;o

I read along time ago on TT.net that when reversing you will get a clunk from the brakes which shows the ABS is working or something (dont know if its just autos). I get the clunking sound when reversing but its kind of quiet. If your in the area I can show u what I mean.

check your front track rod end bushes or at a pinch the ball joint on the bottom caliper arm easy fixes but all too common a fault

well, no joy on diagnosing the problem, i will be getting it seen to over the weekend and will let you know what the result is.

The clunk is definitely only there when you come to a stop, and it is transmitted up through the pedal.

There is some other wierdness going on with the reservoir and cylinder too, so i'll keep my hands off and leave it to the experts.

Could be your Disk is a little bit warped,

If you use them, hard in the wet it can happen, chances are that you would have some secondry indication such as vibrations and steering shake tho if that were the case.

Have you done the ABS test yet dude. That should tell ya some more info

up until i think 1994 the 300zx tt had aliminum brake calipers, this proved to be a problem with warping discs they then changed over to steel calipers.

maby a warped disc

well, got it sorted, and it was an easy fix thankfully.

the abs sensor had come loose, so was not giving a reading

therefore the abs computer was engaging the abs on that wheel, regardless of speed.

i like easy and cheap problems like that... :)
