Hi guys not been on here for a while as i sold my zed a while back, i do still hanker for another one, so when i started looking about at the prices and different cars on sale i was astounded and shocked at the amount of 300 zxs that have been "killed", i dont mean mechanicaly, i mean cosmeticaly, some are exceptionaly horrid, and i mean horrid embarrassing looking nasty boy racered looking heaps, awfull ali G style kits, poorly fitted sagging leather :xxx: aftermarket interiors in none matching colours which clash with the cars paint, awfull silver paint all over the dashboard, great big nasty sad embarassing stickers etc, whats going on?? just why, it reminds me of the golf advert where the boy racered golfs were actually crying. its sacrilidge it really is and i think it does nothing for the cars image, its turning so fast into a gary boy car that it puts you off owning one, seriously have a look about at some of the stuff advertised its so so sad, personally i think a nice straight level shiny example still looks the biz, even after all these years, a nice original one will put many modern cars to shame in the styling dept. dont get me wrong subtle changes to help the timeless lines they have, eg bigger but tastefull wheels, and white lenses is all you need to keep these what they are a SUPER car, am i alone on this one?? surely not, sorry like but its annoying!!!!!!!!

There are a lot of the over-the-top bodykits about, but I would say for the most part that thankfully the 300zx has avoided the "max power" scene.

I agree some zeds look like blinged up hummers or escalades chrome wheels and more tack it has to stop.

would you say my car is like what your saying then mate or not

Karl it looks as tho a fortune has been spent on your car and im sure you love it, but personaly no i would not drive that car, just being honest mate :( for me its too much, but to your credit it looks as though it has been profesionaly done rather than slung together like some

Gavo remember me mine use to be red, we met a few times, didnt you buy my old leather seats.

well you must hate my car now LOL but i love it and i can take pride that i did everything including the painting myself.

anyway we all do our cars to what we want to drive, at the end of the day its what you have to live with.

good to see you again, hope you get another

Paul

Agree with Legrath. The Zed looks good almost as nature intended. It's all personal preference at the end of the day but I like the smooth uncluttered original lines of the zed. It's what makes the car IMHO

Agree with you two there, I love the original lines of the Zed. But on saying that I've never minded seeing personal expression in car design, if time and care have been taken in the design and build, and it's been done well, then I think they can look very good indeed.

The example of Karls Zed is a point in case, it is a beautifully done 'modded' Zed, as are quite a few others as well. But if the time and money arn't spent on them, then they can look really crap.

The thing is, that it's not just our cars it's the same throughout all car clubs. I used to be a member of the Capri Club, and when ever I went to the shows you'd see pristine examples in both original and modded, but you'd also see the ones that were really done on the cheap and looked absolute shite!!

Nice to see someone can give credit where its due even if its not their cup of tea. :smash:

Oh and Karl. I'll drive your car while your away if you like  :p

personally i love the way there are so many different looking zeds - walk round jae and you'll see we have one of the varied stands of any car club - i think the club would be much the poorer if we didnt have the modifiers

Regards,

alex

p.s. my leather doesnt match my paintwork - have you tried getting candy apple red leather

Try asking the people who make these! C2345.jpg

The only things (and again, this is down to personal preference) that I'd consider fitting to my own zed would either be OEM 99 spec gear or Stillen stuff. IMHO Stillen skirts and bumper extensions are so subtle, they just add a bit of depth to the zed. Infact the only replacement nose cone I like is the Stillen, I find all the others look like they've been designed by year 12 CDT students.

I am considering getting a 99spec rear spoiler, but that's only if I get the Stillen skirts, and bumper extensions. But with those, I'd have to change the rims accordingly to match the deeper look it would give.

I'm not saying a word

personally i quite like some done up car such as CJ's, to me this is a beautiful car, I like the front bumper off paulg's car, and i love the back end of i think its mac's car.

I also love the look of a standard zed and do think you can go too far but each to their own,

I think karl's car has had a lot done to it and isn't my kind of thing but do think it done nicely and obviously has a lot of money spend on it

I do think i will change from the standard look but it'll probably be a mixture of the things ive just mentioned and some better wheels :p

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

I think CJ's is an example of how to modify heavily without loosing the origional style and class of the Z. I love nice stock ones too but i do think they look a little slab sided now thats why i like the widearch and the stock front bumper is a bit bland as well.

Each to their own.

now onto Vinz's old petrol flap...has anyone bought it off him yet

Simply put, if you don't like it than you DON'T LIKE IT.

Why bring up that chavtastic kids stuff

Is this your true opinion on Karl300zx's motor? than fine

to me it's a work of art and it beautiful.

Honestly mate, my advice to you, don't think like the barryboys comunity.

If you want a car that hasn't been played around "Ali G style" than good luck in finding one.

Well your entitled to your opinion

My opinion is your wrong! There are some beautifully modded cars on here

In your description ZELDA would be horrible  and thats just WRONG

IMO

You can have it Bud free of charge  :nana2:  now I've got a fat arse LOL.

I do kinda agree with gavo....although there are ways to saying things. At the end of the day, it's all personal taste. Like I said, with my taste, I shan't be adorning it with spinners, stickers up the doors, meshed bumpers and what have you.

i know alot of modded cars arent to everyones liking, me personally i love the look of the z3 roadster and the m3, but you mod it in anyway and i fuking hate them.

im happy that everyone doesnt like my car and they have there own pionts of view, i would just advise that you use a different way of wording things, a dun up renault5gt yes ali g, a 300zx not.

karl

when I was 22 (1989) I had a renault 5GT Turbo with Dimma kit on

and I thought it was the Dogs B0110cks

Ok, hi paul yes its me and glad you got your car how you like it, still say that yours is the fastest z i ever went in.

And in response to karl if you had seen the 300 that drove past me which sparked this whole thing off i think you would prob agree with the ali G thing, it just looked tacky ill thought out and as though it had crashed into halfords window, absolutely no where near the standard of yours, but you did ask for my opinion which i gave honestly, i am in no way comparing yours with that as its quite frankly a different league and if you read my first post you will see that this is my gripe, not wanting to be too contradictory here but i can get away with a wide arch kit, but again properly done with wide alloys to suit, as my grandad always used to say if a jobs worth doing its worth doing properly :p

Most modded zeds are tastefully done their are a few that look like they have been through the pimp my ride workshop.

For me the worst thing you can do to a zed is fit one of those fooking awful aluminium spoilers that Halfrauds sell :hurl: :hurl: :hurl: :hurl:

but its all down to personal taste i suppose
