Any help/advice would be appreciated!

I have a friend who is buying the new Honda Civic from a Honda dealer.

They have paid a £500 deposit and the car was supposed to be delivered and registered in January 2006.

It turns out that the car was regeistered in 2005 and wont be delivered until next week (2006).

So my question is wont that affect the future value of the car and should they be paying full price for a car that was registered last year?

Thanks

You are indeed correct......

......it will be a 2005 55 reg as opposed to a 2006 55 reg which will have a small effect on future residuals. If the car is not available for delivery until 2006 why has the dealer registered it in 2005?

Also in whose name is the car registered, your friend's? - technically your friend is the keeper of the vehicle from 1st registration if that is the case, otherwise if it is registered in the dealers name the extra keeper is a negative point as well.

However, new cars are known to increase in price from one year to the next, so if your friend paid the 2005 price, this would compensate a little. Although I still think it is bad show from the dealer to register the car early when delivery is postponed until the next year - he should raise the issue with them and see what they can offer him in recompense.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
