I am a new member, MashFace300zx. My name is Marc.
Due to the fact that I use a van all week for my business, and have access to my wifes frugal ford KA I have decided that I would like to get myself a little plaything, a 300zx TT. To be honest, I wont be using it during the week as I have my work van, and for most day to day things we use the wife's KA, but i like the idea of getting the 300 zed out on a weekend for a blat
I have been looking at 300zx turbos now for near on a year, and i have found a suitable candidate, i am yet to decide what the seller wants to do as he has lost interest in it.
Its a manual JAP SPEC SWB 300zxTT in silver that needs some TLC. The owner tells me it has had a rigid rear drive axle fitted (no idea what that means) so it can cope with over 1000BHP. At the moment he claims it's putting out 400BHP at the wheels, although it has not been dynoed. However it hits 60 in just over 4 seconds so it must be somewhere near that figure. It has been extesivly lowered, lightend and strut braced with no silly bodykits (standard looking). Some of the interior at the back has been stripped out due to the huge strut braces in the back (quite impressive sight), its a pretty mean machine  .
However, it needs the folowing.
A real good wash, i mean really, really, really good. It has years of green grime built up on the bodywork and seals, its been sitting in the driveway for a year or so, under huge trees. :o I have checked the paintwork underneath and it's showroom perfect. NO Sctraches at all, i mean it has not been washed for years, and not seen a carwash either, so if the dirt is removed gently the paintwork will look pucker.
New alloy wheels, they look dead and tired. The are split rimmed ones, and the nuts on the rimms are rusted, awful. :headvswal
And has the following problems
Slipping cluch, however the he said that he got his mech to look at it and the clutch and assembally is fine. He thinks that its a slipping belt somewhere (lol, you can tell he dont know much about cars) i think its more of a case of an incrorrectly adjusted clutch pedal, or leaking master cylinder or something.
Rear spoiler paintwork is shot to bits, needs replacement or respray.
Other than that, the car still drives and starts fine, sounds awsome, very very loud due to the huge 4 inch stainless exausts.
You might be wondering why i am considering buying this.... well.... dog at the moment.
He has lost interest in it, they are moving soon he has to get rid of it and i am hoping that he wont get round to fixing all these things, i want to make an offer he cant refuse and take it off his hands so i can do it up.
