Great cars, would like one as a 3rd car for myself. Very rare in the UK, and a decent one would probably cost more than a decent 300zx.

Be carefull about believing a 30+ year old car is going to be cheap to run though.

Are you serious....well then I'm not lookin' in the right places for one, I would truly rather have a 300 than a 240...guess I'll keep lookin'...I know one day I will own a Z..it's my dream! I know it's not gonna be cheap, thats why I wanted to buy a Z that I could just put money into, rather than buy one so expensive. Everywhere I look Z's are very expensive, and there 10 years or older, and I can't get a loan from the bank because they say the car is to old, but not old enough to consider a classic, I'm screwed, unless I win the lotto. I dunno....wish me luck

Look at the first generation 300s they are nice too. I remember when the came out the were so cool. Good luck and dont give up

as you are in the states have you thought about the 280Z

don't confuse it with the 280ZX

its the same shape as the 240/260 but with a injected engine in it

they are plenty of them over there

i have a mate selling a MINT 300zx z32 soon he wants about £3500 for it all original no mods trully a great example.

As Steve says....

Cheaper and not so troublesome as the 240Z and more of them. only problem is the steering is heavy for a young lady(no power steering)

Whats the specs of the car. TT, year, manual etc....

Get a 300.......IMHO. The 240 is a nice little car but it's not a 300 & will cost you a lot to keep a good one in good nick anyway.

Early cars are still common in the US Neil and parts are readily available for them at VERY reasonable money,

And they dont go wrong either.

The 280Z with its injected engine is an even better bet. Pity we never had that model over here.

look on Ebay.com to see what I mean.type in datsun 280Z.

Ewwww...I'm sorry but that 280 is ugly, but thanks for all your help guys. I'm just gonna have to save and save until my dream comes true. I'll never give up. Even though I would like a 240, I wanna learn to drift. It looks like so much fun, and a great adrenaline rush.

Pinky. there are a load of 240's for sale in the states. but they aint cheap. there are a few 260's as well. but none are close to the 32z

As stated above, I wish we'd had it over here in the UK, a gorgeous vehicle

Isn't the Nissan 200SX called the 240 in the states as its a different engine (N/A)? Is that what you are on about???

Now I see where you're coming from. But still to say that the 280Z is ugly is well off the mark (IMHO) ;) Youngsters these days have got NO idea (old git mode)

The 280Z that is pictured is a 280ZX and the 280Z was the same shape as the earlier 240Z with a 2.8 fuel injected engine and had bloody great federal bumpers in the States where most of them were sold

The 240/260Z and 280ZX was sold in the UK but not the 280Z.

Unfortunatly the turbo version of the 280ZX (pictured) was not sold in the UK,just the non turbo versions were available

The 280ZX shown is a 2 seater version and was also avilable in as, used here, a slicktop version

There are not that many of either versions left on the road over here as a result of the press's use of it "being of porcine flabiness" when it first came out over here seems to have been detrimental to its success but in the States it became the better seller than either of the 240/260/280Zs generation ZS

ahh...yes, u must mean the 240sx (what the rest of the world calls the 200sx)

Yes, it will be cheaper to purchase and run. Good little cars, quick, and lively RWD handling.

Yep, sorry Steve you are indeed correct. But it did clearly state that it was a Z and not a ZX :headvswal

Anyway......... a 1977 280Z (Not ZX) this time ;)

Sorry for calling the 280 ugly, but in my opinion, it is. I'm sure by mid next year I will have made up my mind and saved for either a Z or a 240...hopefully a Z. Also, do you think its a good idea to buy a turbo Z, people have been telling me, becareful because if it goes out....its expensive, very expensive. I saw a 95' with 68,000 miles turbo for $3,900...do you think its a lemon, or has some major problems? Please give me some advice..thanks
