Can anyone give some advice,there are some units that will connect my I-Pod to the head unit.

 

However some only play, some work with the head unit remote, some don't charge.

 

I'm looking for one that connects directly to the unit not via the radio, one that also charges and if possible one that works with the head unit remote???????

I saw something the other day but I'm struggling to remember where, it was about £100 and it had a docking station and charged the ipod. Sorry it escapes me, I'll ask about and reply if I find anymore. Not a lot of help really!

Alpine do make a box to connect an ipod to there units

yeah,alpine do a unit that is ipod compatable, so do pioneer IIRC, i have an alpine CDA-9847R , you have to buy an interface separately for 60-70 quid, this charges the ipod and lets you change the track/artist/playlist and lets you do random plays. its fairly limited in what it can control but its better than the fm modulators that i have seen anyway

Does it also charge the I-Podand give all the information through your head unit???

yes mate, will charge all the time its connected and gives track/album/artist names, it uses the ipod in much the same way as a cd changer,

i also used these guys a few weeks ago to connect ipod mini to JVC no problems ;)

I am getting a Sony AV box for £30 on ebay for my ipod for a straight 3.5mm stereo jack to 2 RCA phono connectors. I need this box so the Sony stereo system will switch to the ipod when it plays a tune. When the ipod is on the car i will discreetly keep it velcroed to the side of the central console.
