Anyone know much about the Nisstek ECU chips on e-bay at the moment? There's some very interesting dyno comparisons between them and the JWT chip (which I'm about to fit). Some parts of the dyno graphs show 40bhp improvement over the JWT!.

I'm now not sure whether one of these chips may be a better long term prospect.

Cheers

Gareth

Yep, that's me !

Oops, sorry Andy, didn't realise!!!

Can you PM details me about the 'map 2' version of the chip? I may be interested in one of these when you do the socketing on my ecu this weekend.

Thanks.

when i brought my zed its listed as having a jwt chip, no idea really about the mapping of it? likely BHP gains? its clearly chipped as my car over fuels at idle... guessing i cant really fix that... just interested whats going on in my ecu..

ps sorry for the hijack...

jwt chip is one of the safest around, hence why it may overfuel, rather than running lean

I had one fitted for three years and it is the ONLY one I would fit to my Z if I did not have to go full engine managment it would still be in there.

These are the real Mcoy and are NOT cheap copys.

Gonna disagree Iain these are one of the worst chips around the timing has been over adavanced at top end which is why all the cars that have the SE chip have there base timing set to around 10 degrees because they dett there *****cks off, upside is good top end bad side is fook all power until much higher up the rev range all imho of course

This is not a knock at you Andy for supplying these chips I just think they have been very cruedly developed

don't know much about mapping, but this is the differance from a stock ecu to a se chip

and with a chip

anyone care to share there bin files then, easily got with datascan and a cable. Just to see how well/badly they are tuned. I usually work with the RB engine but would like to see what they do with the VG30.

What like give the map away, hell thats a good idea..................

NOT !!!! roll

hi ryan its jason we met at nisstek, i have one of these chips fitted to my manual tt and it goes like stink and it ticks over perfect ,15psi no problem

i think they are good for the power they deliver and yes most of the power starts from 4000 rpm ,even better response with the cats gone aswell.

so all i want to say is my own personal experiance with this chip and peter rosenborg was a good one when it came to deliver power from a near standard zed engine

Hello mate,

I have on file approx 20 different manufactures chips from JWT to Mines and some alot more aggresive all will run ok although some a little dangerously, the nice thing is when you start ripping all these different developed maps apart you can see exactly what the tuner has done or not done to increase the power etc, SE's chip was kept standard until higher up the rev range where massive amounts of timing were added to give more power, the problem with this is it would work on some cars and not others so in order to stop the dett the base timing was dramatically reduced by as much as 5 degrees to keep the top end from detting. as I said before this would make for a good top end but very poor bottom end i.e 1k-4krpm sluggish, then loads of power

not being a mechanic so is that bad then and if so which chip would you recommend to deliver the same power on standard tubs ,decat, twin induction kit,and what type of degree on the timing would best suit bud

Jason tbh mate if the chip is working fine for you and delivering the power you want i would not change it at all, your car has obviously running on this for some time with no problems and you seem happy with the peformance, it would however be interesting to get a base timing reading off your car as it would not be difficult to give you the same top end performance but give you back the bottom end timing and power at the same time ;)

not a problem mate im sure were meet up soon at one of the meets, should have the car back in a couple of weeks ,want to show it off you know what i mean, since i aint driven it for 9 months

So after looking at the 20 diffrent maps what one would you say was the best for a good allround perfomance and safety?

Ryan, For what it's worth mate. My base timing has been checked and is spot on 15 degrees. I'm currently running one of Andy's chips and the performance is spot on AND more importantly, no det. I was running a different chip last summer and had the car dyno'd at JAE. Car was detting at just under 5K rpm. Since I changed to Andy's chip I can get right up the rev range with no dett. Car was dyno'd again a few weeks ago and actually out performed my 1st chip, giving me 330bhp at the back wheels (15psi).

Other point I would like to make is the power band between 3000 and 4000 is awesome with my chip, so don't quite understand your comment about little power difference from stock under 4K.

So, speaking from my own personal experience, I wouldn't swap my SE chip for any other.

I would still love to see thoose maps, I have some that might be of interest too.

Ehhhhhhh LOL disagree with what? that I would not still have it if I did not fit the DTA? read my post again

Dont know what chips you were looking at but my timing was 15 degrees and that is a fact, also check Steves last post. He had a chip that was detting its nuts off then he fitted Andys chip and did not touch the timing and its 100% spot on and even made more power

lets see the maps then. Datascan can download them without a problem. There are far too many chips floating around with jap fuel/US fuel etc on them. And a JWT map is bar far the worst I have seen. Nothing changed but the timing.

Ive got a chip thats causing teh engine to miss, was fine till i put the 555 in and the new chip.

i got the datascan too but ill be buggered if I know what its telling me.
