help is always handy especially where i am

got my car about 6month ago ran peachy for ages then took a road trip

on said trip managed to tan back window and do gear box in

just want to find out some things

its a jap import auto na about 60k but because of where i am its nearly imposible to get any one to look at it with out a large loan amasing.

So i need to know are autoglass takin the p*** with having to wait 8weeks for a new window all the mean time damp getting in and can the gear box be sorted by me or at least a garage who arnt absolute morons with out having to sell a kidney other wise its gonna have to go.

And to be honest its a bit of a swizz having to be a full member of an online fourm for lovers of this car if i have to sell it i cant get to any of the events and really just wanted to have to advice and mutual support for what i thought was a amazing car. but i have to become a full member to do so or even if i just want to sell the spare wheel, dont want to see it go but can there be any alternatives.

I would say make a bidd but ill probably be barred for having an opinion come on guys be freindly help me out.

Try asking auto glas for the glass from a uk car, its a different colour of tint, but it wouldnt matter much to me.

Is it a SWB? Damn hard to get a rear windscreen for a SWB. Expensive too.

Auto Gearbox problems often are expensive, no matter where you live. Without a nearby zed specialist, you would be better of finding a Generic Gearbox specialist to diagnose and quote...and possibly sourcing a 2nd hand Auto box if it works out cheaper. List the faults on here, and see if anyone can advise though ?

Try the traders section - there are breakers in there.

I have had parts from Andy and RiceRocket, happy with both.

Glass shouldn't be too difficult to get hold of.

Shipping by carrier can be done, just a bit more expensive because of where you are.

But you already know that.

 

According to previous posts it looks like you already got another gearbox - was it ok, or is it the original which is still in the car?

Again, the breakers/traders section has to be recommended.

Or Japs scrappie in Coatbridge if you want to go get it yourself.

Plenty breakers down south will carrier it toyou.

Fitting by local garage shouldn't be difficult for them.

i tried to sell my car in the autotrader and ebay a few times and got no where.........it was my £20 members fee on here that let me advertise the car on here and this is where it sold!

on other points phoned auto glass day it happend said oh no problem sir we will have a guy out to you sweat i thought

no didint happen glass has to be imported as said already paid costing about 800squid with insurance only covering 500

with gear box got details sent through on some spares site company in london phoned me gave them details said had one in did banking details and all that rubish but it never showed, didnt take the money but the did get my details so again not got.

So in short windows already on order just add an extra month cause of where i am new gear box n converter quoted at 500squid had money then dont know

If you had'nt already ordered glass, then you could of got rear screen of one of the breakers in traders section for fraction of that price, or from one of the guys breaking zed's in the for sale section right now.

 

I also know that Southwestz (in traders section) have at least 2 complete tailgates with glass hanging around and an Auto TT gearbox.

AndyP has the yellow motor breaking RIGHT NOW.

and he won't take a month to get it to you.

Dealt with him in the past and will again in the future - if an exhaust can get to me, next day, from way down south, then a tailgate can get to you in a few days.

Same almost certainly goes for most traders on here.

They will bend over backwards to help.

Re getting damp - cover it. Run it for a while daily and get the heater drying it.

It makes no sense looking at the problem again and again, focus on the solution and force it to happen...and that goes for everything, not just Z parts.

Or take the broken glass all out and cut a hardboard sheet(or thin plywood) to size and secure it in place with some sealer and a couple of pop rivets.

good ideas gonna put them in practice at weekend if it isnt pissssssin down (happens alot up here) will scour for new box and save some pennies what sort of price should i pay for a box n rest in fact what exactly do i need??????
