HUGELY!!

it puts it constantly in safety boost, retarded ignition, ultra rich maps and very low boost.

either replace the sensor and harnes or bypass the det sensor with a 1M ohm Resistor

reset the ecu and job done

BTW i dont reccommend bypassing the det sensor if you have ANY mods other than standard. some will argue, but i have ran with mine bypassed on a standard car for a year almost and had no problems

cheers mate, how much am i looking to spend??

about 50p from maplins or an electrical store, you will need to solder it in

well if you bypass it its about 10p for about 20 resistors, or if you want i a genuine det sensor and harness its about £120 i think, but check with the traders on here.

it's an engine out gob to replace it as it sits between the headers, mines been tricked out for two years now and i run about 14psi boost. and no probs. i think they only work below 3500 rpm

Bypassed mine a year ago.

The standard one only works below 3000rpm anyway and quite often it becomes usless anyway when you fit a boost controller, and aftermarket ECU(which does'nt have safety mode maps).

Plus you should be able hear detting if you ever get it.

I've seen a Zed on the rollers in safety mode putting out 100+bhp less than stock.

cheers, how can i get my ecu reseted?

Disconnect battery for at least 30mins (longer to be sure)

Although code 34 gets reset everytime you turn ignition off.

Like nuts and bolts being rattled in a tin can.

That might have happened to mine then, it sounds like an exaust scraping on the floor or something.

How much does it cost to fix??

i got it once with using crap gas, it's was like a rumble sound. if you use good gas ie optimax u shouldn't have any probs

It would be a faint sound, from engine block, when its underload (like at high boost, or accelerating in 5th from low revs).

The result could potentially be Melted/holed pistons eventually.

Well mine starts making a noise as soon as i turn it on which is why i think its the gearbox (as i know thats shot) then when pulling away it sounds really noisy and i know my det sensor is gone too

no it doesnt.

safety boost resets each time you turn off the ignition and re-start (in the case of genuine detting with a working det sensor)

the fault code however must be cleared even after repairing or bypassing it. you can do this with the consult or by entering exiting diagnostic mode by using the pots on the side of the ecu or by shorting the pins on the consult connector (same thing)

nope, code 34 is reset everytime u turn off ignition, and the ecu records a record of the past xx amount of error codes.

I thought it reset aswell

Have you ever heard of the nuts and bolt sound quite loundly in very low gear.

I know my gearbox is shot though so i think it's that (its an auto)

ok then, but thats what thru me for ages, i had bypassed it but the code remained, couldnt work it out, i assumed it would clear its self but it never did, until i checked the codes and exited diag mode properly rather than just turning the key on and off.

i think you have to leave the batterie disconnected for about an hour

or with a consult you can delete recent error codes

ok im gonna reset my ecu with the batt out.see if theres any difference of not then ill get the det sensor by passed.

well if it resets each time the engine starts why is this necessary?

like i said, what i did worked, reset the code and got it out of safety boost,it wouldnt reset no matter how many times i stopped and started or turned on and off the ignition.

the way i think it works is: the code is found, and is kept as a fault, and then to identify how long ago the code occurred, it tells you it happened 'XX' starts ago.

if it reset each time then it would always happen "1" start ago and would never change.

since i cured my fault it kept it as a fault. and the start counter would be the only thing changing. until i entered diag mode and came out of it

precisely,so for instance if you had a temp sensor fault it may say 20 starts ago but there isnt a problem as such and the car will operate as normal
