I have been convicted of driving without insurance :slap: and I have had some insurance quotes for when I get my driving licence back, and quite frankly they are horrendous.

I will be starting again from scratch, have to take a driving theory and practical test, although I will have 12 points on my licence for 2 years and then 6 for the following 2.

All of the quotes I have had are in this ball park : Ford fiesta, R reg, £2500 TPFT.

Does anyone know of an insurance company who will be able to improve upon this, as I am at my witts end, and when i do eventually get a nissan z car it will be a classic policy on a 350z

I am 19 (although will be 20 just after christmas, and will be taking my driving test then) which doesnt help my case. Admiral are shockingly expensive, IIRC around £4000 for a cavalier 1.8, but i have had better quotes for a car of this size, around £3000.

Help!

Fookin ell what were you doin overtakin a fookin JUMBO JET with no insurance ......... that seems a bit harsh 12 points for 2 years and a ban !!!!!

Buy a Fiat Panda 950cc, it has to be one of the cheapest cars to insure and although its a pile of crap for a car its still better than you had for the last year :D

sorry to say but you are going to have to pay a lot with those convictions.

I know what your saying mate (Muppets a bit harsh though), it pi55es me off the amount of chavs and people around my way that drives without insurance or tax, all I do is because a few of them park their fookin cars outside my drive on white lines making it difficult to get my cars out, I report the vehicles online to the DVLA.  :xxx: Then watch them get towed away and crushed ;)

TO BE HONEST MATE I CANT SEE THAT MANY PLACES WANTING TO INSURANCE YOU DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE OFFENCE BEING QUITE A BAD ONE AS ALL CONVICTIONS ARE RATED DIFFERENTLY FOR EXAMPLE 'DD', 'DR', UT CODES ARE RATED THE HIGHEST AND DRIVING WITHOUT INSURANCE IS PUTTING OTHER PEOPLES PROPERTY AT RISK AS WELL AS YOUR OWN.

WOULD DEFINATELY SHOP AROUND THOUGH IF YOU CAN

i have a DR10 :slap: from a few years back, the best way i found to get insurance is get a traders policy, that way you can get a Z, iv been on a traders policy for 3 years now, and is still cheaper than getting a normal policy! :hyper:

I think, and I may be wrong but astrassuck was caught out on a technicality with the insurance, it was not a clear cut case of just driving without insurance, calling him a muppet may have been a bit unfair.

i'm 20 with a recent drink drive conviction (dr10),only one insurance company would insure me on a jap tt and lucky for me they wasnt too expensive.i think they're called Zenith. they charged me £2000 tpft with me as second driver on my mums policy, sounds alot but considering everyone else either wouldnt give me a quote or were nearly double it isnt too bad. i can get you they're details if you want bud :D

you have to work for an employer who will offer you use of there or your car on there policy,or if you own your own buisness then you can take out a policy IIRC

thats fine but if your pulled over and given a producer, you need a document stating that, otherwise anyone could do it

Just bite the bullet Ben, you fooked up and now you have to pay simple.

Just keep getting quotes and settle with the best one. Lesson learnt :slap:

Anyone CAN do it, most of my work mates are on traders policy, on my insurance cert it says "covered to drive any road worthy vehicle in the policyholders posetion upto a value of £13500" although i'm not covered for steam driven vehicles :D you don't need any proof

Nail!! Head!!

Driving with no insurance is one of the most stupid things to do with a car IMHO.

Incredibly irrisponcable!! Thats just the way it is!

Thats right ive had traders insurance for years with TRADEX , and im not a trader reason i choose traders (ins) is it saves you from keep ringing insurance company every time you change car and if i do start trading its all good plus i can drive my bro's and friends cars.

Had mine for 15 years last 5 with MMA via Blackfriars (Half the price of Roadrunner) I've still got my traders licence but don't think that matters. Rem you still have to declare the vehicles you own and drive on the MT database, You get 14days to update this from purchase date. There's a website for it check with yer company for login details.. MMA will also take you as a part-time trader or mechanic which is loads better cost wise as long as you don't have a nightclub or happen to be in a rock band .. "Don't ask how I know this"

Craig

P.s Nad300 .. Tradex will only cover you as a motortrader .. so you get stopped going to another place of work e.g yer real job .. yer not covered .. Why I don't use em !! not slagging just advice

Ok fair enough.. Must a just been me then.. ;) .. "So I can have another round at 1.30am.. Kewl .. Do you know anything by Guns 'N' Roses?? "

Norwich union seems to be the best so far although seriously considering paying for the mrs to pass her test insure her and put me on as a named driver, and it would work out cheaper!!

Need a bigger car than a panda need a saloon/family car really because of the baby! Also need boot space for a sub and a pushchair ;)
