Its not very often I get irate about stuff, normally quite laidback,

but they were discussing an article on the radio today, about a schoolkid who was suspended from school for refusing to remove a crucifix and chain around their neck.

Apparently the reason was it could offend people of another faith ! :confused:

Other children in the class from a different country and background were allowed to keep wearing some sort of bangle, as it is part of their religion and culture. When the kid pointed this out, and said that if they had to remove their religous jewellery, it was only fair for everybody to abide by the same rules, she was suspended !!! :eek:

 

What is this country coming too ???

All I have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS? I celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't celebrated by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas holiday, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that.

IMMIGRANTS, NOT BRITS MUST ADAPT.

 

 

 

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on the 7th of the 7th we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Brits. However, the disgust about the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

 

 

 

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Britain, Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. (The Danes, Romans etc.) However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of the Brits being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britain's we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

 

 

 

We speak ENGLISH and GAELIC, not Indian, Urdu, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language Therefore, if you wish to

 

Become part of our society, learn the language! "Land of Hope & Glory" is our motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.

 

 

 

If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If the Union flag or the cross of St George ,St Andrew St Patrick or St David offends you, or you don't like our QUEEN, then you should

 

Seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and haven no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our Laws give every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so! But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our lifestyle our government, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great BRITISH freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE !!!

we need to do more that put pen on paper this is no longer great britian as there is no longer anything great about it imho stop imigration totally and start returning a few of the less desireable residents back to there home countries obviously there are genuinely nice people in this country from all areas of the planet but do we need half a million polish people who dont want to speak english over here do we need a million asians who think this is the new asia do we need a million indian/pakistanis trying to force our decisions all the time no we dont. lets make this country great again remove the P.C. bunch and lets get this country sorted a country for the people by the people a country where all races can live side by side a country where everyone is working for the same principals and goals to make this GREAT BRITAIN again

England is a great place. I've been to some really appalling places in the world....and I know there are worse places than those I've visited. Whilst England might not be perfect for everyone, I am proud to live in a decent country. England is not poverty and disease ridden, it's a non-corrupt developed nation.

 

There will always be problems with things, we have one of the strongest economies in the world, we have a national health service, we have low unemployment and most importantly we have a democratic society.

 

Go travelling, visit some 3rd world countries, even some eastern bloc European countries and you'll realised that despite the niggles we have over here, England is a place I'll always want to live.

 

Dunno why people moan about this country, get off your ass and go to some countries with 'real' problems.

 

The only thing that REALLY does suck is the media blowing things out of proportion from reality.

most of the issues covered by news media are to be frank extremes and are covered to provoke outrage....and usually rare...(take child murders etc)....or fear of johnny foreigner...etc...etc (IIRC more folks quit the UK than arrive each year this is esp true in Scotland whose population has fallen by millions over the last 100 years)

 

you will always get over zealous officals in any large organisation who mis-reads or mis-interperates the rules or guidence....but its not newsworthy the print the fact the thousands (majority) of folks do use it correctly....quite often these stories have no follow up and (boringly) the issue such as the one described get sorted by a few simple words from the bosses.

 

that said its a great place

I live in a small village in the Leicestershire coutryside which is very 'British', shall we say, but it is not all white, British people living here - but you would never know!! There are a few Indian families here, and a few Chinese families, but they live like British families, i.e. they speak with no foreign accent, dress like you and I, and celebrate along side us native British at times like Christmas, New Year and Bonfire night.

Alan I am spanish-american and will be living soon in UK and I agree 100% with you, it´s not about being raciest is about trying to involve yourself in a nice way with the new culture, get to know it; to meet the nice english ways..not to go and just act as,ok I am Italian, or Turkish, or spanish and while Im here Im gonna stick to my culture and ignore the Uk ways.. I hate that!!

Freedom of worship is a beautiful thing and why this premis is not being considered is beyond me. No one should be ashamed of thier faith or made to deny it. Yeah, but the point being is that we all lived together in harmony. Whereas the current way of thinking is that we have to give way to the incoming ideals.... why should we?

I have no problem with other nationals coming over here to live and work, and even practice their own religion and traditions. But the problem is when they start to complain about us practising our own religions and traditions, thats the point when it becomes un-acceptable.

 

Oh and by the way, Hitler did have some very good ideas, but he made terrible mistakes and took some very bad advice (he was very impresionable) He also went about it in the wrong way. Dont' jump on a band wagon, unless you know your facts, because I do! ;)

I also saw on CH5 news the other night 70% of Company's will not place Christmas decorations in there shops and business's as not to offend people of ethnic race !!

Personally its very straight forward in my view try going to an Asian or East european country and standing on a box and telling them you find there beliefs offensive. You would not even stand a chance of getting away with it.

Why also is it ok for a Mosqes to have there prayers and chants played from loud speakers at there set times of day ? This surely is against the Human rights of people who are of different belief ? Thats without the noise issue.

Put your radio up loud in your garden or a public place and your liable for prosecution ? Again Mosqes, the rules dont apply ? :rant:

Im also more than willing to accept anybody into this country but surely it has got to be under that countrys Laws. Surely if some of these groups want to live like there relatives and ancestors do. I am Scottish, although still British. Point I was making was, a resident of this country was being asked, or told to do something to avoid "possibly" offending somebody of another race or country. They werent shown the same respect back. P.C. correct or not ??

Also, and I take it I am not alone in my feelings on this, we must be one of the most tolerant countries in the world to immigrants, or people seeking asylum. Why should we alter traditions, customs, way of life etc, etc

I went on Holiday to Turkey this year, and attemted my best to converse in the local language. One local style bar we went to, we were required to remove footwear which we quite happily done.

Every bodys opinion is different though. In my opinion, theres nothing "funny" about being proud of our country, whether you are Catholic, Protestant, Non Denominational or even the same as my mate Afran. A Scottish born guy from Indian background. Still supports his team, Glasgow Rangers, still practises his Indian Religion but is very much in support of Britian as he considers it his home !! :bow: (drives a poopra tho !) ;)
