Can someone explain what a google spider is please. I have noticed that sometimes in the who's online quick links it says the members who are on it says that guests are on but it also says google spider? I may be dim but this has me stumped.

LOL yeah very true, its kinda dodgy that they havnt disclosed why they use it. i know its party used to catalog google search.......but hidden pages too....weird :confused:

its nothin dodgy! just if their spider is more intelligent then it will be able to spot sly techniques some webmasters use to promote their site, recognise the sly techniques and then not rank them accordingly.

 

alot of sites are link farms, many hundreds of pages on the server that all link to each other. google looks for sites that are linked to other related sites, it's part of the ranking process. so if it can spot link farms then these sites won't get false placings on the search results

Dont wory bought it. Geeves and another search engine are doing teh same thing. Yaho's bot has been revamped and been "banning" servers for unethical whatever for months now. Its just googles is way more powerfull.
