Illuminated marker lights

Am I correct in thinking series 2's had illuminated bumper markers rather than reflectors?

Is it an easy mod to do to convert?

sory the pic is so big m8, but done mine this weekend. Didn't have any spare bulb holders knocking around, so bought some universal holders that fitted the holes in the pair of crystal markers from the Z centre.

Then used some inline clamps to marry the wires together to the rear lights. Take off the rear panels inside the boot all the way round to the rear wheels to expose the wiring, determine which are the rear light bulbs at the back and hey presto. u need the black wire and the green wire going into the bulb holder(disregard the other one as it's a double filament for the brake light)

oh yeah, lol, forgot you need to drill a hole directly behind where the marker goes to get inside the boot, just be careful on the drivers side cos the power aerial is directly behind where you drill.

u need a drill, pair or markers that will take a bulb, i got red bulbs with the set from zcentre, about 12 foot of 5amp wire, universal bulb holders, and wire clamps(lil blue snap thingys, crude, but effective)

Start to finish was about 45 mins after connecting the wires to the bulb holder.

Looks awesome at night ;)

Sorry if it sounds long winded, just got in from work and my brain is frazzled, but honestly m8, its an easy job when you've got the bits.

I've also just done this, but instead of running wires from the rear lights and then through the metalwork, I tapped them off the number plate harness outside. Thus, no extra wires going into the vehicle, and no problems if you still have/want the bulb out light/device to work.

Mine did take a bit longer, but then I was fitting a UK spec bumper inplace of my Jap one. I also used the original Jap spec red reflectors, after cutting the section out of my Jspec bumper and grafting it into my new Uk one :D

Thanks for your reply Brett. Much appreciated. Sounds quite straight forward. One question though. Where did you route the wires? I mean, where did you run them through the body of the car? Quite happy to drill the inside of the bumper, but I'm not going to drill holes in the body of the car.

Is there a gromit that the wire can be run?

Thanks Dave....ya know this is exactly what I was thinking about doing. Modding a UK rear bumper. But gonna keep my Jap one for now. Nice to see it done though.

Like the wiring idea too! Can you do that with the bumper still on the car?

no prob Si, with the rear plastic taken outta the boot, you can just run the wires direct around the edges to the rear lights, which will be covered by the plastic when its put back in. stealth mode, lol

I need to have a good look around I think. I've just reassembled all the tailgate plastic after fitting 99spec lights....nice chunks out of my knuckles. I think I'll wait till they've healed first! LOL

I'd think it could be done, but it would be very tight. Obviously it's a lot easier with it off, but then taking it off is a bit of a pain in the arse. With it still in-situ just make sure that the wires don't come anywhere near the zorst, as you don't want them melting.

It took me a while to get all the parts together. Just a note though, the UK bumper comes with only one working fog lamp, and one dummy (case and lens only). If you want two working, then you would need the reflector and bulb holder from another one (mine came from an old Micra)

lol, ok m8, good luck ;)

I wonder what wise-crack at Nissan thought that would be a good idea!

just as an idea, my(jap) rear panel has had the drivers side reverse light converted to a fog light.

shines up bright on a switch from the dash, and no ugly bolt on red light at the rear.

stealth mode again, lol
