Nah its an old bloke who went to iraq to help with peace, he's 78 i believe and he's being held hostage with 3 other people, by the same group who has executed all of the hostages it's ever had pretty much. Suprice suprise its the (all together now) middle east.

 

IMHO we should pull out and let them get on with it. Say, even a sniff of terrorism and we remove the whole middle east off the map with nuclear weapons and start again.

Of course there would have been trouble in the middle east if the US had not steped in, and there is even more trouble there now because of the US presence. Iraq is much worse now than when saddam was in power. But really the US set them selves up for all the problems they now have with terrorism, they practically invented al quida in the afgan/russian conflict, if only they had thought through all the consequence!

No one gets it right all the time but they are not the only ones to blame...we went in with them...

 

Someone needed to make a stand and they were the only ones that did. I am pretty sure there are millions of Iraqis that are happy that they did...and a minority that are pissed off because they preferred it the way it was, and want to rule by tyranny and terror.

Yes the UK went in with them and we have payed the price of that and will continue to do so in the future. That poor guy Mr Pember may be another of the hundreds of thousands of people who have payed with their lives because of the policys of G Bush and his love of black gold.

Well Saddam is with out boubt an evil man who butchered thousands of his own people. The situation today is that hundreds of thousands of his own people have died over the past 2 and a half years, so no real differance on the amount people that are dieing in his country as to when he was in power. And the future looks just as bleak.

As to offering alternative solutions to the problems in the middle east, then why not exdend it to solving problems to other troubled lands like in Sudanese Darfur? I doubt if they have enough oil for the governments like the US or UK to take action though.

In Canada they have a lot of forest fires. sometimes they have found the best way to fight a fire is with fire? At this stage when the world is being held to ransom by Muslim terrorists that policy might work if it was done properly and for all the right reasons. So far i think the conflict in Iraq has proved in-effective because it wasnt for the right reasons. :x:

MOST people would just cave in and accept it and just carry on looking after their own. But you will have the few who will stand up and fight it.

 

Just cos people are too scared to die for it, doesnt mean they are happy about it.

Does anyone remember that he was able to massacre so many of his people because we supplied him with chemical weapons and the means to make them? he even had a Western engineer design him a supergun that he was going to use to hold half the middle east to ransom with. We made Saddam powerful enough to rule his neighbours and as a consequence they're not too happy that we created the dictator that terrorised them for so long.

Also with Al-Qeda, does anyone remember we supplied and trained them to be terrorists when Russia occupied their country? Bin Laden himself worked for the CIA (just like Saddam).

Problem is you have LOADS of areas/tribes/comunities in Iraq who each see themselves as different cultures/countries and want to rule under their own flag. So you can NEVER have one person rule iraq and keep it in line unless you have someone like sadam at the wheel.

 

There will never be peace out there because of this, even if you split the country up to each of the areas, they will still fight each other to get land off each other.

 

Wast of time and lives going in trying to sort a problem that will never get sorted.

Just because we supplied him with weapons, does not mean that he had to use them to massacre millions of people....

Only solution to stop it would be to brainwash an entire nation. Not gonna happen.
