Could be intercooler leak. A new left intercooler allowed my imported TT to rev above 5000rpm whilst the importers were sorting it out.

why would that cause the problem and what would it be leaking

Erm not sure tbh! But from what i have read on these forums leaky intercoolers are often a cause of an engine not reving beyond 5000rpm.

Sorry i cant be more helpfull. Perhaps one of the wiser ZX dudes could tell you if you could inspect the intercoolers yourself to determine if one is 'leaky'.

Have you just refueled recently?

Mine did that on the way home from buying it and it scared the *****cks outta me! Thought she was gonna blow, but i put it down to the fuel, the only other thing i was putting it down to that night was water getting in cause it was a wet night but its never done it since!

I took it for a good run the next day not driving it to hard and it seemed to clear itself ok.

Ps mine was that bad i actuallt towed her home the last few miles that night!

it was the engine temp sensor if you do an ecu check and get code 13 thats it. its the yellow clip on the water pipes going to thermostat i would check the conections first

Thanks ive allready changed that and the conector.

This problem is realy starting to get to me now.I think i will have to take the bumper off and work from the intercoolers back. And see if theres any loose hoses.

Thanks

Steve.

are you taking the intercoolers off because you think there leaking because i would air test them IMO. my missing was like i was hitting a rev limiter crossed with a miss and was quite violent i could belive it was down to such a small sensor

Ive changed everything and i mean everything.

Its since i put my engine back in im begining to think i may have pulled one of the intercooler pipes on the left bank,as its the only place i havnt looked.

Also since the new coilovers with it being as low as a snakes ar5e i might have cought it.

try and borrow a known working afm, fairly sure its to blame.

Ive allready tried one and cas,PTU,changed all the injector connectors, coilpack connectors, plugs.

Cant think of anything else.

guys i had exactly the same problems recently. I was told MAF, TPS or CAS. I just took my time, cleaned the contacts for each of these and resecured each of the looms, and the problem went away striaght away!

I think it was probably the TPS as the contacts in there were a bit "mucky" and the rest looked fine, but i gave all of them a spray with contact cleaner anyway!

Hope this helps

Just a suggestion but had a very similar problem with a 200sx couple of years back, at a certian point when booting it the car would violently judder to a loss in power. Changed the fuel pump and problem solved. Probaly way of on a zed though.

EVO.
