Am gonna hazard a guess at this mate, cos i've no definate answer for yer ;)

Anyone who comes to this forum does so because they are into being a part of the 300zx community ( or at least they should) and will therefore subscribe in due course. It's really only those who don't want to openly talk and drive Zeds that don't, in that particular case, why should we just allow people to come on the board not cough up £20 and be able to post for their own fun what's been described as naff threads ?

In the case of your other half, that is of course an exception and i would guess a very very rare case, so i imagine what ever the commitees reasons are, they have to consider the vast majority.

As i said mate, this is just all a guess on my part, but if i was part of the reasoning why, then this what they would be ;)

cheers

pretty much what i had running through my mind and as for my other half well i cant see the point of both of us being subscribed members so she is going to miss out on a lot of stuff yeah mostly drivel but oh well..

if the comittee would be so good as to offer explanation ( i know you are not obliged to) it would be greatfully received

cheers and thanks

jay

Are you taking the p1ss mate?

Also people who pay to use this service have even more rights to post whatever they want!

No Tim

and paid up members have the FULL service, the rest is just in an area where you can't see!

smithy

Yes some of this us discovered that last night!

Maybe what i should have said is " an area you can't USE"

Simply subscribe once your bans are up and you can crack on posting what you want, just in the area that suits the subject,( you obviously love this place) that way newbies surfing through thinking about joining us, don't get to read it until they too have subscribed.

Hi Jay,

I think Smithy answered the question perfectly ;)

As for that other fella, I reckon his posts prove exactly why we need a "paid up members only" section :D

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

yes and we have a paid up members section but surely this new off topic area is just a re-named rant club so has anything changed well imho no it hasnt all thats happened is limited access for regestered members and i know plenty who would like to use all areas of the forum

again im not looking to start an argument just curious

yup, think Smithy hit the nail in the head their.

Why dont you just share the account with your other half? ;)

One of the reasons that "silly" threads are being locked or moved is that it clutters up the General Discussion area. Imagine if a prospective member had just found this site and was having a browse around, what sort of first impression do you think this sort of crap gives out?

IMO this is mainly why the action has been taken...

dude, why are you so desperate to have pointless threads anyway? Surely you can do it on msn, forums made for chit chat, or even at the pub with mates?

Its a 300zx forum at the end of the day, and should be used for 300zx/related chat. I cant understand the recent obsession with people demanding the right to post useless shit, but it seems to be the same group of people every time.

I think the new member who posted up his narrow mindedness was none other than Timmy Turbo.

Also...it's all well and good having this new forum....but please do it correctly!! Rubbish has 2 B's in it!

100% Agree.

General discussion along with "help and advice" are two of the main areas where new browsers(who hopefully will subscribe later) are going to look.

The Forum is the public face of this club. First impressions do count.

Lets try and make it a good impression.

Well said scott

I am in total agreement with this new rule and I also think its a good idea that it should be members only. The whole problem IMO wasn't just because the drivel was getting on some peoples nerves. Its the fact that new peole were seeing this stuff and it may have been driving them away? So if its better for the club then its better for all.

The club should come first not the individuals opinion. At first I saw a flaw in it but now can see the sense.

I can see what Z evo is saying but unfortunately some people are going to be upset. Maybe the club could do a special partners rate at £10 or something I am sure there are a few that might agree to this?

Only a suggestion.

i like the idea of partners rates that seems good and having read through this thread again i can understand why its where it is but i will say one further thing if we have a mambers area why is so damn quiet in there
