Just out of interest, at what point does a post become drivel and pointless?

 

Surely that is a decition only INDERVIDUAL members can decide after reading a post. One mans drivel is anothers joy. Maybe there should be a poll on every post and if the drivel result gets more than 10 votes its closed?

 

I read some posts and just have no interest at all with them, others I think are great.

Just cos I don’t want to read someone’s post on "my new house I've bought" does not make it drivel! Its got feck all to do with the forum/300's and I have no interest in it, the same way as someone else might not have any interest in a post "What’s the biggest spot you’ve ever had and where?" yet this will be called drivel and locked because its amusing.

 

I’ve used example posts that I think don’t exist so if anyone HAS posted my new house recently it was in no way aimed at your post. Same goes for the spot one!

so could you delete any threads that may come up in those catagories because imho they are just drivel

now in no circumstances should these threads be deleted, i just simply dont read them

lets face it, most of the posts that have been moved/deleted/locked recently, the members posting on them *know* its crap.

 

all mods can do is use our common sense, which is what i always try to do. i am sure the members can do the same when they post ;)

Mods i have no probs with. IMHO you all do a good job when a thread gets out of hand ect.

 

But if a post is getting loads of replys and people are clearly enjoying it, just cos a few are not why is it closed?

Yes Paul but your opinions (mods not you personally) are obviously not the same as most people on the forum. Therefore it becomes "policing" and that takes away the rights of the majority. This subject will never be resolved with banter. It has to be put to the vote.

the thing is the "drivel" threads are the only ones with alot of replies at the moment. when people ask for help with there zed, they have very few or no replies (like my ac help thread) or worse you get "do a search" if we all did that there wouldn't be no conversation what so ever. i like to ask people's advice as there are a lot of people with different ideas and some seaches are old and new ways of sorting the problem might have been found
