At the last Committee meeting we discussed the issue of “Drivel posts and Nonsense polls” on the Club’s forums and what to do about them. There has been an upsurge in the volume of these types of posts which have had the effect of cluttering up the forums and making it frustrating for our members to use the forums. Members have also complained about the standard of postings both in their content and in their style. The majority of these postings appear to come from the “younger” elements of the Club or simply people who don’t own Zs. The Committee felt that these posts and polls are damaging the profile and spirit of the Club to both subscribed members and that of potential new members visiting the forums.

The Club’s AUP is there to support you in your roles as moderators and for members to know what the forum's rules and guidelines are. The AUP will be updated to deal with “Drivel posts and Nonsense polls” and your input is welcome as to what ammendments and changes need to be made.

In the meantime would you close off “Drivel posts and Nonsense polls” with an appropriate comment. Clearly this is a subjective decision for now so if in doubt ask for support if you want it.

The above post is in the Committee/ mods forum, now although I dont feel it is my job to explain whats going on as I am the TLO I think its only manners to do so as the club Secretary is away on holiday until the weekend.

Members and traders have complained about Drivel posts.

Be honest, it is quite amusing sometimes to see what some people post up when they're pissed, but i do agree with the fact it should be kept for a drivel section - where all the piss-heads can get together lol

you say put it in rant club, but rant club is for rants, change the name to the lounge, or muppets corner, or whatever and then everyone who posts things that shoukld be in there could be moved without confusion

'Muppets Corner' it is then! Next to rant club maybe? All posts and threads in here add zero to one's post count.

Think post counts can be a good idea.

Rant club has had different titles over the years, fight club, muppets corner, wombles even at one stage i believe!

that section has always been there for subscribed members to post their crap in!

I always assumed rant club/fight club was for that. rants and fights!

First time ive heard its for general shit.

AUP states that any thread deemed "too silly" will be moved to the forum formally known as fight club

Or even a drunken corner, see who can come up with the most stupid topic when they're pissed - might be a few competitors for that one! ;)

ok, not my point mate. I meant it was not clear the fight club/rant club was for drivel threads. Everyone has always thought its for rants and fights. needs to be made clearer was my point there. ;)

maybe it could be called the lounge and used by suby's and regi's users, it could be a place for everyone to go and know you can post what you like and not be hassled for it

the post count i think is a good idea to have in place, i use it to see who frequents this club and post the most, so if there is any questions that i need to ask i will ask the people with the most posts rather than someone who only uses the site to sell things or for just help and advice

you are doing a grand job of moderating the forum and i agree some of the threads should have been locked but most of them should have simply been moved

keep up the good work

ok end of subject now ffs

dont post shite on the open forums or it gets moved/deleted and you get wet at JAE simple really isnt it roll

That's it finito, anyone who doesnt agree then they know where the door is :)

gentlemen i think we've finally got somewhere. :)

I think the results of Viniboy's poll speak for themselves

Yeah, I reckon that's true. I'm quite glad this has been openly discussed though, and if it gets "I'm a drunken post-whore" etc out of General Discussion I'll be happy (sorry to whoever posted that one). I'm also grateful for Mac's initial post, and some of the input from the mods.

I agree that common sense should be the rule, but it just seems that recently somebody has tossed their toys out of the pram and gone a bit wild on closing threads... maybe understandable given some of the crud that's been posted, and I'm not criticising particularly.

It does seem that there are some threads that could have been moved rather than closed: e.g. the "Bon Jovi" thread -- it started out as complete drivel but became considerably more coherent before it was eventually closed for no apparent reason. I mean, what's offensive or inappropriate about discussing Bon Jovi? (All right, all right, I'm sure some of you absolutely hate them. ;) )

Anyway, guess I'll be bringing my wet weather gear to JAE next year then.

I think it might have been too "slipery".........

I dont think "rant club" is an ideal title to me it sounds like the place to go argue not post stupid "Drivel" or non Zrelated crap ?

Get rid of the post count Do not replace with anything. Just have a membership no or join date people can then make there own mind up about whos been a member the longest etc.

Definatly post a brief explanation when closing a thread. it will give people a clue as to why its been done, as from reading the 5 pages of "Drivel" hear about it. A little bit of communication would probably stop people ranting on about it IMHO

as you can see a lot of stuff is being left unlocked, threads don't need to be related to zeds or driving, but if you post shit it will be locked, if you continue to take the piss you will be banned,

its unfortunate we have had to get to this situation, but there are a few people spoiling it for the majority, in the end this forum and club will be deminsihed to the point of 3 people coming on and talking about dog poo, I've seen it happen before and we are not immune from it,

people are actually laughing at the forum, there are a number of people out there who i may name in the future who would love to see this place fail,

people are actually laughing at the forum,

thats what i was thinking what would the supra boys say. especially when we upset them by posting a nice picture on there site

Could we have the 'muppets corner' or whatever it is accesssible to all, not just those who've paid their susbscription?

If it's obviously labelled as that, it shouldn't offend anyone plus if it's hidden away in the susbcribed members section it'll get kind of ignored and the temptation to post shyte in the main section will still be there.

That's a real shame. I don't understand why some people get off on other people's troubles.

AUP states that any thread deemed "too silly" will be moved to the forum formally known as fight club

Where does the AUP state that a user will be notified either by email to the registered user account or notified on the thread as to the FACT that they have been banned in the first place?
