Is anyone else working over the Christmas period?

 

I have been told that our team (UK2) have been booked to work Christmas eve and Christmas day. Boxing day. New years eve and new years day and all the days in between. At first it was a shock but the actual holiday days 24, 25, 26th..31st and 1st are going to be paid at a triple time so at least I will be able to buy some mods for my car. :D All in the Liverpool/Preston area though. :(

The wonga is whats driving me rich. Working nights so the morning will be a no no. and the drive home will be like a Chris Rea song............

Well I have been offered a new job with an IT Consultancy firm in London so I will not be working over the new year. My start date is 9th Jan so I will be having Xmas & New Year off...wooohooo

I'm not working as such but I am on call over new year so no festive cheer :duffer: for me as I have to be able to get to work in a sober state within 1 hour. :headvswal

Being a 24 hour on call plumber means i,m always working unless i dont get called out over christmas (highly unlikely) so we will see, the one thing that fookin p*sses me off though is the fookin D.I.Y. S.O.S. tw*ts who have a problem then try to fix it and totally fook it up E.G. last year had a call to a burst pipe it was old lead so instesd of callin somebody he tried to fix it and totally fooked it up !!! i could have fixed the problem wiv a simple Johnson coupler instead i took a great big chunk of terracotta flooring in his front hallway up with a chisel and cut the pipe back enough to connect copper on LADIES AND GENTLEMEN THIS IS YOUR CHRISTMAS WARNING........... if it breaks call a specialist!!!!!

Working Christmas day is crazy - you must have no family ? Money is not that valuable, unless you are starving.

My shift is off Christmas Day but im on days

Working christmas day and boxing day, same triple time, but get a shift bonus as well. Christmas is a kids time, as i see it, dont have any kids so why not make money?

If i had the chance i wouldnt work but i have an obligation to my advert in the yella pages "365 days a year including bank holidays" and i dont like to let people down when they have an emergency i dont mind taking the odd day off now and then but its a p*sstake to get a plumber just to answer the fone during any holidays or even a sunny day !!!

No work for me will have the phone on voice mail only. Sod the money tripple time would not get me out on Christmas Day LOL

Hey! Tim thats it mate. My kids are 19 and 26. So not kids anymore. My boys got hes Xbox 360 for xmas so hes sorted and my wife is fine. Mind you who wouldnt be £75 an hour is good fookin money.... :x:

I only got Christmas Day off, but tripple time for the rest of it so new Z mods at the end of january when i get me wages!!! :dance: :dance:

If I could work over xmas for OT then I sure as hell would! :)

Start my stint at 24hr call out on the monday 19th throo till wednesday the 28th.

 

Get allowed to switch the phone off between midday and 6.00pm on xmas day, otherwise its on standby constantly !! :(

im doing nights xmas eve, means ill be back with the family by 9.30 xmas morning, and on nights new years eve and new years day. :D

 

quite a good run this year, just checked my shifts for next year - days on xmas eve, xmas day, nights on boxing day, and days on new years day :eek:

Shit mate, i know how much you earn, tripple time is some hectic stuff mate. I'd work for that money!

yep afraid so im working 12hour shifts over crimbo sucks!! LOL!!
