Is it just me or is anyone else getting fed up with these two needlessly postwhoring and generally posting drunken crap? Between the two of them they have managed to post up in excess of 20 threads in the past two day which are all completely useless and in some cases even quite inciteful. They are not the only ones who are doing this but by far the most prolific and visible.

This kind of posting is seriously affecting the credibility of this forum as a source of useful information for Z owners and it will definitely put genuine users off from joining the club. And that in turn affects us traders as being seen to be supliers to a "joke" of a forum. I've already had several customers comment that they saw my section on the forum but didn't want to be associated with it ... Not good for the club, not good for the traders.

I don't know if there are any rules set out for dealing with this type of behaviour but I for one would like to see this stopped or at the least dealt with. No doubt there will be comments of Nazi behaviour and censorship but there are bigger issues to think about.

Overall I think the tone of this club/forum has taken a sharp nose dive over the last couple of years. As the owners ages get younger, crap spelling, general ignorance and the chav factor all go up! I'm not saying that we should be selective as to which person can or can not join the club/forum but it is definitely something quite a few people have commented on.

I open the floor to discussions!

Cheers!

Must confess all i do now is hovver the mouse over the thread, see the 1st couple of words then don't even bother opening half the threads on the board and as regards Timmy's, I don't even go that far :( he's done this a few times before, late night post whoring crap, other forums wouldn't allow it on the general boards, it's often saved for a section of drivel, if there is one which we don't! Can be frustrating getting up in the morning and having to go back 2 pages to find a sensible discussion :(

I'd feel only a tiny bit less bothered if he was subscribed !!!!

IMO

Agree Danny and Paul, pisses me off too.

I spend more time on sxoc nowadays because of this, don't know many people over there but there's far more interesting and sensible discussion. And believe they have more young'uns but any crap is deleted/closed.

Just to add... if people wanna talk about random silly stuff, we could have a private members section for it a la Rant Club. The main General Forum page is IMO seen as the front, most prominent page, and as such should promote a good image of the club.

Hi Danny,

This question was raised a few months ago and this is what Craig said about it.

General Discussion

Non-300ZX related topics and discussions.

isnt that what this forum is for ?

just avoid it...

you cant moderate/delete drivel just because its drivel when its in a forum that is there for that purpose....

most day to day banter is drivel, but its what keeps people here... the banter and drivel

what you could do is make it only postable by subscribed members, and readable by registered.... aha, had that discussion already ;)

whats the drivel %age for different user types ?

He does have a valid point

I was pissed as most of it was aimed at me, i spoke to a mod and most of the threads were deleted. Timmy must remember that this place is not a "forum" any more it's a club and he must act in a appropriate manner IMO.

Pete don't agree that SXOC is a better place as all the mods on there are weekend Nazi's on a power trip again IMO

We DEFFO need a new section to post all the shite in (members only) all non member shite should be deleted ( can we have something in the software like on TT Net where members can vote to delete a thread ? )

While I'm on my soapbox, I'd like to have some new rules on the general for sale conditions, that people should only post if interested in the item and not turn the thread into a general discussion (rule used on many many other boards)

Could be worse mate, he could have posted all that in your traders section  he done something similar but on a smaller scale in mine some time ago, i think it's the wacky backy sends him a bit crazy :D

cheers

Hi Danny,

Hi Iain,

Thanks for sharing what Craig's thoughts are on this. He does have a valid point but in my opinion the current situation is slightly different in that this isn't simple "banter and drivel". Yes, it's non-300 related and is therefore in the correct "section" so to speak but it's more than that. This is post whoring, it has nothing whatsoever to do with anything at all and it has absolutely zero value being posted. The fact that certain comments were made regarding Chris's advertising in his signature, etc isn't on either. He's a fully paid up and respected trader and is operating within the confines of the club's rules - end of. Like Pete reitterated, the General Forum can be seen as the club's "front door" and having this kind of posting going on is giving prospective members/300 owners the wrong impression. Just yesterday I spoke with a non-club member who ordered some bits off me. He's new to 300 ownership and so I (faily reluctantly) directed him in the direction of the Club. His response was that he's had a look around on here but decided that he couldn't put up with all the crap that gets posted on a daily basis! He then refered to several other forums where things are quite different.

Anyway, I'm not saying that there is a clear cut solution to this "problem" but it's definitely worth having a discussion over to see if there is anything we can do collectively to minimise the potential of this club "dumbing down" and loosing valuable members as well as appeal.

My suggestion is that a sticky post be put up in all sections stating that post whoring and needless drivel will not be tollerated. These posts will be moved to a separate section and the offender warned. Three warnings and a temporary ban will be imposed. Reoffenders will have their subscriptions revoked (if subscribed) and a permanent ban imposed. If this is up then it is at the moderator's discretion to move any posts or not. At least there would be a visible rule which the club can use to lay down the law on serial offenders. It would of course also be prudent to clarify the reason behind this rule, namely to provide a friendly and knowledgeable "front door" to the club.

That's just my opinion by the way.

Cheers guys!

i'm just locking threads that are nonsense with no explanation, fvck it, its beyond a joke at the moment, if people want to get out of hand i'll ban them, its only 3-4 spoiling it for everyone,

I noticed somebody was starting to lock threads! Excellent! But this is sure to get their backs up and encourage more crap to appear. I really think the rules/policies should be updated with provisions allowing moderators to close, move or delete such threads. When updated, place a single post refering to the update and then your backs are covered. You won't need to give any reasons for locking, moving or deleting threads because you're acting within the confines of the club's rules and policies. Plus they should have been aware of the updated rule. Whether they have read it or not becomes irrelevant.

Good start Mike - thanks!

Dan

thats already in the rules, it doesnt work, lock them and if they moan ban them, its only 4 people really and me locking threads has stopped it to some degree,

no need for politics in this, just close threads that are nonsense,
