i dont think it will be

i think most people will just stick to the usual times

only hardcore drinkers will drink after hours??

It might be both. Have to wait and see.

Personally, I'm not a great believer. Whilst it won't affect me, noise levels around people's homes who are close to places with late licences will suffer with noise running later on.

Also, the cases of drink driving may increase. If people are drinking later into the night and all the way into the morning....well, it speaks for itself.

Only one way to find it is to see what happens.

It'll be manic for the first few months until people get used to the idea of relaxed drinking.

i cannot believe that the government are allowing 24hr drinking geez i think it is a disgracefull idea

i think yes cause it wont have 300 people spilling out on the streets at one time, also when you finish work at 3 in the morning you could go for a pint, just like i do at 5 in the afternoon, i dont know anyone that could drink for 24 hours and when people start to realise that you dont have to get drunk quick cause the pubs are closing soon, it may help the binge drinking prob

but on the other hand, taxi drivers wont like it cause there most profitble time is at the end of the night when they all come out together, if they all straggle out of pubs at different times they will have to work longer to make up for money lost

just my opinion though

if it can help to stagger the times every one goes home and helps to avoid fights in Taxi ques and Kebab shops, then thats fine by me

I agree with this, when in a club it normally shuts at 2am, I will hit the drink hard to get pist. When its bank holiday they open til 3am and half the people in the club is gone before then.

well im out 2morrow night..........finish work at 3.30 pm.....and off i go ......have no idea how many bars have extended hours in ipswich........but im sure i'll find them :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:.......i know one of the wetherspoons is opening at 9.00am.....so could have a fry up and a pint friday morning.......not that im a drinker!!!!

look at rest of europe thats always had 24hr drinking. No binge drinking and less alcohol related crime and injuries. They laugh at us for our "11pm closing time".

Obviously at first your going to get people drinking themselves under the table all night long because its a novelty, but once eveybody is used to it, and realises you no longer have to down as many drinks as you can within a few hours it will settle down and be a big improvement.

I was in Chicago's in Ipswich and what a fooking great night we had there. Loads of crumpooot even if they are mostly drawing pensions but we had a ball. The bouncers did have a bit of fun too ramrodding a geezer into the wall near the grub counter. Vodka red bull please..... :x:

Culture is different though Dave, always has been. In europe people tend to have drink with food rather than to go out to a club and get pissed.

i go in chicago's sumtimes.........like you say lots of maturer women.......

ok lets look at this logicaly. the councils in the most part are only going to extend licences to 24 hours to supermarkets. There are a coulple of exceptions but in the main you wont find many pubs opening 24/7

No one can afford to drink for that long, or even if they tried they wouldnt be physicaly able. Then you have the issue of staffing.

The government are trying to relax our attitudes to drinking and allow us to stop rashuing to fit it all in a 2-4 hour slot.

its a good idea, its left up to the councils themselves. loose you licens and you wont ever get it agin.

The door staff I know rekkon In some ways it will be better because you won't having a mass exodus of people leaving a club or pub at any one time and there for hopefully it will reduce crime and after club brawles...

It's a stupid idea and will promote alcoholism

I think it's a brilliant idea, the longer the pubs are open, the less time I have to see you. Also when I do have to see you I'll be so pi$$ed I won't remember :hyper:

So is it a good thing or not? I think not.

Tony wont care its more money for his loon party  ;)

I run a pub in torbay (Devon) and there are no pubs anywhere near us opening for more than a couple of hours longer than they used to. at the end of the day, peeps only have so much to spend... all its going to do is spread out the spending over a longer time, and as said by others, will mean that people aren't all going home at once. Its not going to make any more money for anyone, the money spent in pubs/clubs/takeaways & taxi's is going to be spent over a longer period meaning more staff costs etc... we haven't bothered changing our hours at all.

i had a great night, because places were open longer,,,,didnt feel the need to go stupid and drink loads in a few hours.......feel pretty much alive this morning aswell,,,,no bloody hangover,,,,,,im shocked,,...and norfolk is the 24 hour drinking capital of england,,,,,,with 36 pubs open all hours......

On the up side there will be a lot of employment opportunities created, extra delivery staff, bar staff, door staff etc. economically it must be good to some degree

well i didnt even go to the pub last night i had a few beers at home recreated the pub experience by smoking too much and played music too loud it was great when the mrs didnt call last orders at 10:55pm lmmfao

just had a thought hit me like an express train i promised my lass i would only drink during legal drinking times does that now mean i can drink all day???
