I noticed tonight that my rear number plate lights were not working, I havnt checked the bulbs yet, but I think it would be unlikely for boyh to go at the same time, I have tried to find the fuse (to no avail) I cant find any reference to the rear number plate light fuse, anywhere.

I need your help Guys, Please.

Im a complete numpty when it comes to following wireing diagrams, can anyone translate into a language i can understand?

hmmm my number plate lights have never worked either cant be asked to check the bulbs it looks complex, any who if its not foggy its raining so you wont be able to the plate anyway

isnt it part of the MOT check?

it is part of the mot, the fuse box is in the driverside footwell behind the kick panel, any probs give me a shout

jay

yeah it is part of the MOT it depends on how picky your test station is my guys didnt even notice then again i've been going to the same place for years so they mainly check for stuff that could be dangerous.

on a diff note have checked the fuse but no joy.

Thanx Jay, I will check the fuseBox, when I get some time (and the light)

to be honest pete the numberplate lights work off one side of the sidelights so if both left and right side lights are working then the number plate lights should check the buls cause the shock of your little accident may have damaged them

Thanx for this info Kev, The side lights are all fine, I find it most unusal for both bulbs to go at once, but as you suggest it could be an effect of my ickle miss-hap :(

They do, but the Tail/Brake light sensor is in the way as well, so there could be a fault with the number plate outlet from there! Just look at the wiring diag that Hellraiser put up, find the License Plate (number plate) part at the top middle of the diag, and then follow the wires back from there. One goes to earth, along with the rear lamp units, but the feed goes to(comes from) the sensor.

On another note, yeah as I agree with the sentiments of not bothering about having your number plate lite up, why advertise the fact to an over-eager plod that might be following you, give them an inch, and they'll take a mile!! And it is an MOT failure, as are all your lights that are fitted, except front fog, as they are a UK requirement. But all lights, if fitted, MUST work and be road worthy, if you are stopped by the plod!

Can I be a complete pain in the BUTT, and ask "Where and How do I find the Tail/Brake Light Sensor?

it's on your drivers side rear lights iirc take the cover off and look on the right hand side of drivers rear light there will be a black box mounted there, forgot about that as mine is disconnected lol

Yeah, sorry, that makes no difference :nelson:

In that case, may I sugest that you check your earth connection from the number plate lamp holder.
