If you were to register an import car online for an insurance quote and there were two options:

1. 300zx turbo

2. 300zx import turbo

and you went for option 1 (which was much cheaper) is it likely the company wouldnt pay out if it were stolen? what if you had a producer from teh police? would tehy accept the insurance certificate as valid?

cheers again

If your not honest with your insurance company you are screwed in an accident.

If you want even cheaper insurance though insure your Z as a Mini. LOL

Online quotes for zeds especially imports, is a bit of a nightmare.

My first zed was an F plate, Tesco car insurance tried to insure it as a z31, i finally persuaded them it was a z32 and they upped the premium and the new policy came through as a z32 uk model, i had to call em again shell out more cash to get it put down as an import. I got a new policy telling me to fit a tracker as i wasnt covered if it got knicked!

No point lying/ not telling the insurers anything as theyll just use it against you if you need to claim.

Also the online quotes only give the details that dvla hold on the car, which on the whole arent very accurate.

Glad im with Houghtons now!!

Insurance is a contract to cover for the big f***k up. You break the terms of the contract by bending the truth and you have wasted your money. You may be able to tax the car and fool the old bill, but at the end of the day, you want the car repaired or some money back to buy another. The insurance companies are real cute these days, they have had so much crap thrown at them in the past, they now know what to expect. Be straight, be insured

If you have an imported ZX then I wouldn't bother with online quotes mate - too much is left to interpretation.

Phone the company and tell them the whole story. They record the conversations (or should do nowadays) so if you tell them it's an import and they quote you on a UK spec, if the shit hits the fan you can prove you disclosed all the facts and they made the mistake.

If you advise an insurance company incorrectly to obtain a lower premium you are NOT INSURED. Very illegal and if you hit someone else you would be liable for any third party claim, legal costs and compensation etc.

Plus not being insured carries hefty points and fines.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

hey there, i work for an insurance comany,

Now you need to tell them which car it is or well whats already been said they will not pay out, also because the accident should be reported to the police you'll probably get done for driving without the correct insurance, your policy may get cancelled for non disclosure (not a good thing), other companies may not want to insure you because you've had a policy cancelled by a company etc etc etc.

As far as the police if you just given a producer, they probably wouldn't know its an import so insurance on an english 300zx you would probably get away with but its really not worth the risk in case you are caught.
