Picked my car up from having an oil change, drove for a mile or so, low rpm's 1st, 2nd gear. Then the car started to judder at higher rpms, so pulled off the main road but as I tried to continure the car spluttered to a halt with no power at any throttle openings and now has had to be left up a side street until I can go back tomorrow.

It will still start for a second or so of very spluttery low idle, then dies.

Could this be PTU symptoms? Also have to check the MAF (very cold and now splash guard, altough it isn't raining and it started fine to begin with), temp sensor and fuel (low but light wasn't on).

Any other suggetions?

fuel low cause its been jacked up at the front and all the petrol is at the back of the tank and causing air to come through the fuel lines

just a thought

Yep, sounds fuel to me. Did they change the fuel filter ?

No, fuel filter not touched, and the oil will have been dropped on a proper ramp (altough I then had the wheels balanced and they may have used a jack for that).

Not sure that the work I've had done is the cause, as like I said it seemd to drive fine for 1 -1.5 miles before dying.

Been working on the car this afternoon (where I had to leave it across town) and have had no joy, initally it would just start and barely get to a 500rpm splutter before dying after 2 seconds, now it won't start at all.

Have changed the PTU to a fixed S1, checked all electrical connections that I can see, disconnected and re-connected the battery, and wiggled all my coil pack connectors. Also put more fuel in but all had no effect. :(

Now thinking it may either be the coolant temp sensor or the MAF. Could these be the cause??

Sounds like a fuel problem, locate the fuel pump relay ( green ) in the drivers footwell and bridge it out, see if pump runs (with the ignition on), if not remove access panel in boot floor under the spare wheel and locate the fuel pump cable, check the connection, check for power, with ignition on. The pump has 12v live when the ignition is on and the earth is switched via the pump ecu, you can earth this out for a full time running pump as a test to prove the pump is ok.

Tried to fing a green relay in the footwell but couldn't see one - there is no fuse in the area down there that has anything to do with fuel is there?

Anyone got a picture of it if so?

Disconnected the MAF and no joy, also went into the boot well panel and all pump connections seemed OK in there.

The car wants to go, is turning over OK , and the injectors are clicking as they should be, just won't run now. At a loss, will call the AA tomorrow and get it sent somewhere. :(

TO see fuel relay you have to take off plastic panel 3 screws under gas pedal and one on door long plastic sill once panel is off you cant miss it.

Sound like you may have the same problem as this.

fuel pump/relay check

I hope this has been fixed by now but if not here is my two pence worth. I went to see Ryan at ZTech and the car just died on us when I got there! It turned over and would sometimes catch a very rough idle but not often. Turns out it is the fuel pump. Have a try of this:- turn ignition on and you should hear the pump prime. Its the whir from the back. If all else (relays etc) are ok and this does'nt happen sounds like the pump. You can also test this by removing the fuel line under the bonnet and seeing if fuel jets everywhere. Messy but accurate.

Haven't had time to do the fuel pump ECU bypass yet, however I can hear my pump priming with the ignition so am not sure its that.

Did an ECU diagnostic though and got a code 21 .... what is this. I know ignition signal circuit but I thought that was something to do with the PTU. I've swapped my PTU with a fixed S1. Could it be the harness??
