Hello everyone, I have been thinking about building a 'carputer' into my new car. I have tried to get help at mp3car.com, but the quality of the answers over there are not even near the response you get over here, therefore it would be nice if you could tell me if you know about this :)

 

I have been thinking about buying a ready computer, as the ones you can find on mp3car.com, and just hook it up to my car radio and have an external tuch screen. What do I need to do this? Of course I need some sort of power supply/inverter and the cables to hook up the computer to the stereo, but what else?

 

I would like to be able to watch DVD's, use GPS and of course play music and videos from the HDD.

 

If I have a total budget of, let's say, about £700. What could I get for that (The price should include everything needed)?

That would actually be quite interesting, have you ever seen it done? How hard is it to chip it? Do you know if it could be done with the old Xbox?

I would, but I don't own a Z yet, and probably won't have one in a couple of years as I just bought another car.

 

Btw, I say two Z wrecks in a nearby garage a couple of hours ago. It would be quite nice as a projct, so I may go and ask them for a price quote next monday :)

Yes, can be done with an old xbox, you'd need to chip it and install a load of third party software.

Oh, thanks! It would actually be quite easy using an Xbox I think. They are quite cheap nowdays, but still powerfull enough to play DVD's etc.
