Sorry I just had to say this:

As you well know john dixon as announced that he is leaving. I thought I understood he's reasons? I have seen the responce and am disgusted. I have never heard so much crap in my whole life. If he wants to go let him. How does this mean this club is going under. There have been more new members over the last few months than ever. (so i have been led to believe) Do any of you really think that the ZClub is any different than here? NO! it aint.

I have seen posts by other members for example>>" should I stay or should I go" and that bloke got ripped to pieces for it. John on the other hand got the total opposite. ????? Selective support (thats B0ll0X) why because John can help you and others cant. Thats where the problem lies. There are some members on this site and they are quite visable in Johns thread that dont like change. They dont like us new members invading their space. Well as I have said in that thread I pay my dues and will use the site as i see fit.(to a degree). Again as i said this site has become more than a car club its become a community and I love it here and know I'm not alone.

this shit is getting beyond a joke its like a free for all slanging match. i posted my disapointment at johns leaving as he has helped me in the past (like many others) in my opinion anyone who leaves this site will be missed the more the better. But all this crap of my dick is bigger than yours is making this site unwelcoming to new members. Theres always a quicker car than yours

Surely we are missing the point here. JD leaving should make us think about the direction of the club. Sure, what club would not be dissapointed about one of it's most knowledgable and experienced, not to forget helpful, members leaving but that is not to say the club has gone wrong or is going under.

There are a lot of members still here that are willing to help and some that will even go that extra mile to help people. This is a good thing and part of the reason why this club is so good, and will continue to be good as long as the attitude stays. This way we can all learn and help as we go along.

The other thing that we have that most clubs do not is the compassion towards other members. I have never seen this in a forum before and to be honest it is a refreshing feeling that we are grown up and caring, unlike some other forums I have been a member of. Even people we do not necessarily know get sympathy and compassion here...

Let us not focus on all the bad things wrong with the forum and help to keep the good things going...the bad things will die away naturally...

So be it...'tis the end of my rant!!!

I ama a new member and I thought all of the pissing contest stuff was in jest. I like this site and I feel its a valuable resource and just because someone asks a question that has been asked before or wants to talk about something other than their car than that should be ok. Not everyone was here for the grand opening of 300zx.co.uk. I am quite sure the spirit in which this club was born from was not to end up being a place for people to have little tolerence for new people. Just to echo an earlier comment its a community, so act like one.

I love ya Vinni ;) but not in a man-love way :)

I dont have a problem with anyone, young, old, black, white, newbie or whatever.

My only problem with this site is I feel there's a lot of behind the scenes stuff that goes on here (MSN Buddies and chats - Ive been invited to a few). There are helpful people on here still, and there always will be. Theres just a little too much cloak and dagger and slating and shi*e for me at times.

I joined this forum because of my love for my car. I love owning it, driving it and modding it. I sometimes think people forget thats what were all here for. Who cares if my cars slower than yours, etc!!! Its my Zed and I love it.

This is probably the longest thread Ive ever written as I dont normally say much - just sit in the background and watch all the banter. Please let us not forget why were all here.

bloody ell - took me that long to type up - 3 posts have happened since :(

hehe...but true nonetheless....

Everyone is making such a big deal out of the 'this forum is full of crap' and 'too much shit being posted' issue. I haven’t even spoken to John about this and I can guarantee that is just a very small part of his reasons for leaving. I have not been here since the beginning but I have been here long enough to know and experience the lies, bullshitting, backstabbing, rumour spreading and character assassination that goes on behind the scenes.

We already lost the huge Z32 knowledge of Andy Duff (I don’t care if he is good at reading or an IT bod turned wannabe zed mechanic, the bottom line is he really knew his stuff), and I’m sure some people will disagree with me but I found his input immensely valuable and he was always willing to help me out. Whether you like to admit it or not losing John's input will have negative affect on the club. Just look at how difficult it is to get a help and advice question answered fully nowadays. There are of course still some very knowledgeable guys on here Paul C, Kirbz, Eric Lymon etc but you could count the number of people who have that real depth on one hand! No wonder there aren’t as many big powered zeds as there are Supras, GTOs and the like.

Look at other free forums like tt.net, 3CL and aus300zx and the huge database of tech information on there and compare it to our ‘FAQ’ area, it’s a joke. The technical area on the aussie forum is one of the best I have seen on any car forum. I hardly even bother posting a help thread unless I cant get hold of one of the tech guys on the phone because I know it will take days to get answered if answered at all and even then it will be answered by the guy I can phone.

No one really gives a shit about the ‘crap’ threads that get posted, post all you want, but when 300zx.co.uk which is supposed to be a car club gets 1000 replies to ‘crap’ threads to every 1 reply to a help and advice thread I think there are genuine grounds for concern.

Here is what this club needs, that I have only just noticed it does'nt. RULES:The basic rules are as follows:

1. Keep your replies on topic.

The technical threads should be a safe harbour for sharing and archiving quality information. Continued off topic replies will be removed or censored by the administration. Do not continue to banter on about irrelevant things once the original discussion is over. Random posts at the end of threads will be deleted.

2. The following will not be tolerated.

i) Inflammatory responses

ii) Use of inappropriate language

iii) Harassment of other members

iv) Name calling

v) Picking fights

vi) Inciting arguments

vii) Posts / links of a sexist, sexual, lewd, explicit or racist nature

3. Threads that turn into arguments / flame wars will not be tolerated.

4. General spamming is not allowed.

5. Potentially libellous threads will not be tolerated.

6. Harassment of another user through the PM system will not be tolerated.

7. Advertising and sale of illegal bootleg material (such as copyright video, music and computer software) is not allowed.

8. Use of the private messaging (PM) system by unsubscribed traders is not allowed.

Initial Duties of the Moderators:

Threads will be moved if:

1. The thread clearly belongs in another part of the forum.

2. When the topic moves onto a subject more appropriate to another part of the forum

3. The thread is deemed too “silly” for the content of other forums where it will then be moved to “Anything and Everything” and monitored accordingly.

Threads will be deleted by a moderator if they are deemed to contravene any of the basic rules outlined above.

Disciplinary Procedure:

The Z Club reserves the right to edit, delete or move any posts that are deemed unsuitable for the forum. The Z club reserves the right to remove any forum user’s access and / or delete all of his / her posts. This may be done without consultation or recourse.

Failure to abide by the rules and regulations will result in a warning or immediate ban depending upon the severity of the offence. Users who persist in breaking Z Club forum policy will be banned from the forum.

Moderators are here to monitor and if necessary edit, move, lock or delete posts in order to protect the integrity of the Z Club forum. Moderators follow a strict set of guidelines. When a post is moved, edited, deleted by the moderators it should not be regarded as a direct or personal attack on a particular individual.

As a general rule three warnings will be given to an offender followed by a permanent ban if the warnings continue to be ignored The Z Club reserves the right to an immediate ban if the moderators feel it is needed.

First offence – User reminded of rules and regs

Second offence – one-week ban

Third offence – one month ban

Fourth offence – permanent ban

Three moderators can agree on a temporary ban, which will remain on file for three months. After that period the ban is removed. At least four moderators will decide upon a permanent ban.

A User who has received a ban will be notified by an e-mail from the Moderators, which will state the reason for and duration of the ban.

Should you receive a warning or temporary ban that you feel was not warranted you may appeal the decision by contacting the Moderators via e-mail at webmaster@zclub.net within seven days of the incident.

At least three moderators will adjudicate the appeal. Their decision will be final and will be communicated back to you.

If there is any problem or disagreement with decisions do not make a ‘flame post’. This will not enhance your case and will be immediately removed. No public discussion will be entered into and any post intended to highlight or publicise the incident will be removed immediately. If the offender persists, this will result in suspension of their account to restore order to the forum

The point everyone seems to be missing is: John dosent have to leave does he? He could do as others have done and just be associated with both sites.

I think the main point is : Who cares, all these clubs are is car related chat rooms (we are not family) we come and go as we please, we do not need to put up postS saying goodbye, nice knowing you and my resons are etc. ITS JUST A CHAT ROOM.

Vinny, bud your concentrating too much on the 'forum full of crap issue', trust me, as is the case almost every single time something happens on here, there is so much we don't know that has happened behind the scenes.

there is so much we don't know that has happened behind the scenes

exactly and thats where it should have stayed and not shown for everyone to see and turn this site into a school yard fight

so why is everyone getting their knickers in a twist?

if it doesnt concern them it shouldnt bother them, why make a big deal out of it?

there was no need to start this thread was there?

let the people who do have an issue sort it out themselves whether it happens behind the scenes or not is their problem. there is no need for everyone else to jump in with their opinions after hearing half a story.

oh and nice one Paul, about time it got locked.

well how about making the new posts click only show advice, help and club news etc....then the general (banter) stuff could be filtered off...maybe..?

EXACTLY.........LET IT BE.

Then do just that and stop starting new threads.

Ditto

Maybee the moderators should just delete both these pointless fuitle b%^&it silly argumentative inflamitiry threads and we can all get on having a good laugh , and getting advice, surely thats what this club is for ? Or have i got the wrong idea about this club.

Just thought, not having a pop at you vinneboy  i just feel nothing at all usefull or constructive can come from these threads anymore.

i think the fact they havent posted a reply or put up another thread relating to hype speaks for its self,, not a dig at any of you just this stuff needs to be stopped its getting stupid ,lets chill out and enjoy what we come on here for good advice on zed ownership the woes and the joys ,and the laughs and the sadness of friends we should all pull together and nail this in the bud now!!!! imho of course

damb it got me replying now!!!

damb it got me replying now!!!

lmao i thought exactly the same when i posted :headvswal

i'm gonna stick my neck out and say that the reason i think John has left as this site isnt technical enough.

John is an engineer, he's not interested what people favourite curry is, what colour your latest dump was or whether you should put 19 or 20 " rims on your zed.

In my opinion what floats johns boat is to discuss fuel maps , engine dynamics, etc etc, proper engineering stuff and theres not enough of it on this site in my opinion.
