Just watched "Lady Sovereign's" video for "Hoodie" (think that's what it was called!) on CDUK. Never seen it before. Her and her "crew" dressed in the latest Asbo wear chasing a very upper/middle class woman through a shopping centre...turns out she's only giving her her handbag back! Bandwagon jumping or incisive politcal comment? Discuss if you like! Website is here: http://www.ladysovereign.com/

Not usually into music like this but I liked the message! Lol! :D

Yeah they're only giving her handbag back because they stole it and discovered there was no money in it!

Discuss? All I can really be bothered to type is......

CHAV

I think that sums it up! Whats the deal with the tune "working 9 to 5?" Is that the times the shopping mall is open to go shoplifting? Or does her ankle tag prevent her from going out except between 9 and 5?

I Must be old i have not heard of her !

Not old mate, lucky!

there's no hiding it - chav scum im afraid.

I'd hit it!!

Hoodie is an item of clothing mate, gj-wht-red-hoodie-lrg.jpg

kind of prejudicial answer there

not going to turn this into a fight but some people seem to be rather biased AGAIN oh yeah and its the same people as before

Sorry but I think she looks really cute, if only I was 20 years younger I would have a go. ;) Heard this new song of hers and think its catchy.

You a chav then?

no ffs im 31 and no chav but i do own several hoodies and do not understand the stigma that goes with them have even been asked to remove one once as it was unacceptable clothing apparently but no im certainly no chav

lol yeah i got a couple of hoodies too, useful bits of kit. The stigma is due to the majority of chavs are starting to use them to hide their identity even more and also because its cool to have your hood up over your hat

well having seen the entire video first mentioned in this thread and having noticed the slogan on the back of the hoodies the "youths" did not steal the bag they were simply returning it and i think this is a statement to the effect that not all people who wear hoodies are undesirable

Thats the message they are trying to get accross, so that the ones who are criminals and wear hoodies get less attention because they are seen as less undesireable IMHO :D

exactly. it seems that peoples perceptions of how people should act compared to how they look are getting worse.

when i bought my first suit at 17, i ran a little test in the local shopping centre - wearing the suit on the first day and trying lots of clothes, asking about products in 6 big name high street stores.

the very next day i went into the same shops and asked about the same items but whilst wearing a tracksuit and trainers. I got virtually no customer service on the 2nd day, and was nearly thrown out of one shop, even though i had asked exactly the same questions the day before.

it tought me a big lesson, about how shallow people can be, and 'chav' comments only make it worse.

now im not backing any of the 'hoodie' gangs that are apparently roaming the streets - personally i think a form of national service should be brought back in to give them a sense of respect that seems to be lacking (but thats another arguament), but i do feel that the 'general public' are forcing people to think twice about what they wear just so they are not classed as social outcasts.

sorry - over ;)

i can see where you are coming from and yes there are plenty of undesireables that prance around thinking there cool but some people who wear hoodies are being tared with the same brush

My 3 Boys all have hoodies, Aged 10, 8 & 6. Pratical warm clothing. :D There not chavs !

But if they were to be thats there choice !! :D :D

I think its sad that an item of clothing has been labeled in such away, But its not the first time or the last. Baseball caps backwards anybody People in the 90's took loads of abuse over that and still do. So its not worth arguing about is it ?
