Hi guys

I'm a newbie on your forum.

I've joined primarily because shortly my Peugeot 306 DTurbo will be up for sale and I'm interested in a 300ZX; I've always admired this car compared to Supras and 3000GTs.

I've spent a lot of money tuning my diesel but now as my insurance company trust (lol) me I've been getting good quotes for Jap or UK spec twin turbo 300s. Since having a turbo car, there is no chance I'm going back to N/A cars, so the N/A 300 is out of the question.

Basically I'm looking for a 300ZX TT (manual preferred) which is in fairly good condition (I've seen some dogs recently and one with a compression problem on 6th cylinder, is this a common problem?) for a price of around £2000.

Also, moving from a 50mpg diesel to a 3.0L petrol, can anyone give me tips and advice on what I should expect / be looking out for when buying?

If anyone is selling their TT 300 on here and is asking for an economical yet exciting and head-turning part ex, my I invite you to consider my 306? Very good mpg and good diesel power - 140bhp at 20PSI, and dump valve.

Cheers guys,

Phil

You'll find a lot of dogs for that price, I'd put another £1000 to £1500 on top of that for a decent Zed.

Try our on-line buyers guide >>>> http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm

Have a look through the For Sale section, as buying from a subscribed member you can look back through their old posts to see what problems (if any) they've had and sorted. There are some good bargains in there.

A car can "LOOK" the cleanest example in the world. Doesn't mean it is. Pictures and descriptions mean nothing, go look and poke about yourself, offer a few beers to someone on here and I'm sure you'll get a few offers of help to take a look with you.

...worry about the date of those pictures. And don't discount the NA. And worry about getting 10 miles to the gallon out of a TT (having fun).

It's an auto though.

You'll not find any Manual TTs for £2k...at least any worth bothering with. For a 'good' one, you're looking at between £3,500 and £5,000

Buy the best you can get as good ones are few and far between these days. The misconception that you can pick this cars up for a couple of grand is rife due to the amount of shagged NAs/autos and general tatty ones.

welcome from one mancy lad to another.

take your time and don't rush into buying one. you'll probably end up having to look much further afield and travel a bit.
