Tooley, does this mean you were driving before you got your licence? - lol

I'm surprised you managed to get the Z off your drive in the snow. Rear wheel drive can be lots of fun but don't over do it ;-)

We need your Z in one piece for next years events!

Steve

LOL

Tooley try and get down tonight for Snow Frolics.

I have plenty of film.

CheerZ

Johnny Boy.

P.S

Steve. E

I have sent you a reply regarding your request. Thank you and speak soon.

Well, harry (hand brake) did have a good time today.

Snow everywhere and traction control couldn't give a hoot. I see it doesn't really help in snow...

But my turning circle is now excellent!

depending on what time i finish work i'll be down for defo johnny

hehe just been out again on the pizza hut run and shit two of my lads up. i think it may be time to invest in some rubber lol...........eh wot traction control i have to say the z is not a car for the snow at all but boy does it give you some fun in it

thanks for all the support in how easy a z is to drive in snow.

ive got to go pivk up my car in italy in january and drive it back to the uk.

problem number one, i have never driven in or even seen snow, so this is going to be an education. anyone want to bet on me crashing before im through the alps

Yup, bloddy tell me about it.

Pulled out of my driveway and slid all the way down the road with only the curb keeping me on the road (live on a hill!) The ABS was about as much use as piss holes in snow! Driving to drive around town was even worse. 285's don't cut through the snow they just sit their spinning, taking the piss out of you. The very very slightest acceleration and the wheels span. Just could not pull away. Everbody else in there poxy little cars could but not me. Taking it sidways at 10 mph around all the roundabouts provided plently of ammusment to other road users though.

To top it all off I got stuck on a main road that had not been gritted. Tried to turn around in T junction but could'nt get back up because of a slight incline in the road. So... I was subjected to half hour of more piss taking. Automatic just stayed there in drive with the wheels turning merrily. Accelerating had no or little effect, just got the occasional fish tail. Eventually got helped out by a lorry.

Interesting day!

Andy

Nope, neither can I!

Won't be doing that again in a hurry.

I assume you are referring to the accident. It took nine weeks in all. What a pile of cak they were.

The car has taken a visit to the same mechanic that Steve E uses. Very Good indeed, has a Consult at hand and actually REALLY knows what he's doing which is more than I can say about all the other places i've been to. LOTS to be done though. So far .... steering lower joint replaced, new front rotors, TPS, Plugs, blah blah. It going back to the tranny shop to be rebuild under warranty because its shafted again! Looks like it could be a weak line pressure solenoid causing everything to slip. Then it goes back to Darren to get the O2 sensors replaced (one of them is faulty) & PCV valves done. When this is done he can diagnose the detonation more easily. The CAS is almost adjusted fully to the left which means either the cam belt is not in line or the cam itself is worn! Many engine noises are now present so I don't know how much engine damage has occured + there are oil leaks. The truth shall be revealed in a few weeks. Turbos are smoking at idle anyway so I wouldn't be supprised if an engine rebuild and set of blowers was on the cards later on in the year.

.....after that the prop shaft needs recon'ng or replaced with a single ally item with the rear seal on the Axel being replaced. Yup, bloody leaking to.

That leaves adjustable Tie rods & upper A-arms to sort out the caster and camber alignment probs.

Then.... it goes back to the body shop to have a repair on one of my fenders and a few other bits including a rear spoiler.

Oh....and a Katskin leather kit.

Have I missed anything?

Happy new Year

Andy

PS. a quick rundown on some of the work I have had done.

Ist place. I have taken my Z here many times. Thinks he know what he is doing but actally does'nt. What a supprise there. Never could get the car running properly. He used Bosch or can I say Botch plugs. DO NOT USE THESE PLUGS. THEY ARE NASTY. Trust me, I have compared them to NGK and the car ran smoother with NGK.

2nd place. I wonder if they can sort the running problems out and lack of boost? Had a full rolling road tune. After two hours they came back and said that the car was only running 2 PSI and that they had increased it to 10 PSI. BO&*%(*() !!!. It started of at 6 PSI. Didn't notice that much of a change so I took it somewhere else. The boost was around 6-7 PSI. All they had done was install bleed valves (in the wrong place!) and increase the timing to a dangerous level. Welcome detonation.

Months of crap and Ball&^%& was fed to me from many other places and then ....

Oh, £1400 tranny rebuild and it started slipping within two weeks.

After the tranny rebuild I took my car to who I thought were the renouned experts on Z's. Before they started I told them The knock sensor was buggered. They CAS was also very noticably not right. They installed boost jets and wow 14PSI. They lowered the timing down as far as it would go (CAS fully to the left) to compensate for the detonation. O2 sensor not working, Timimg completly FU^&$&^ ( buggered cam or belt not aligned correctly, Det sensor not working so they increased the boost??? WTF.

It gets better.....

Took it to a local Nissan dealer. Got the car back with the left turbo actuator connector connected to the variable valve timing connector. This mean't I had VVT only working on one side of the engine (Just imagine this!) and one turbo boosting into orbit. What a &^&^%&*^*& mess. Steve E introduced me to Darren (Cheers bud) who spotted all these errors straight away but its probably too late because my engine does not sound the same as when I fist bought it. Sound like a bag of marbles when cold and has what sounds like a piston slap when warm.

I will win in the end!

And there you have it. Keep your Z away from amateurs as it will cost you in the long run.

Craig, does this beat the 'car mats' thread ? LOL

Anders, between you and Warren, you have some sad sad Z stories....

and there was me worrying about the odd rattle and vibe here and there !!

oh yeah, and Darren is THE BIZ, DA MAN, HEAD HONCHO when it comes to sorting the Z out.

Actually, i think i need to call him again soon....
