one thing ive noticed in various mags and sites is the elevated bhp claims ,now i think we are all guilty of this in some degree and i think we should try and get a bit more real here,if for instance a certain persons car is proven on a rolling road with certain modifications and has a read out then maybe we all could use this as some form of guide lines for others :rant: :x:

Unlikely! But TBH if it does I really couldn't give a shit. I'm trying to build a DRIVERS CAR, and as long as I enjoy driving it I don't give a toss if I get burned off by a nova. I'd happily sacrifice 0.5s down the strip for less squat out of corners or 50mph off the top end for better acceleration, or 100bhp for a better power curve for that matter. It's why I can't be arsed with TOTB etc, don't care what anyone else thinks, just doing my own thing the way I want to do it.

I was with mac when he bought his Z total stock with a duff turbo, And I have to respect what he's done to it, He hasnt done it to show off or be better than anyone else, He's done it purely for his own personal pleasure, I have to admit there are times when I thought he was mad spending the amounts of cash he has, But hey....Its his dosh! No point certain people feeling that he is trying to better them and getting out of there pram about it! Fair play to ya mac. IMHO ;)

IMHO they are both a challange, the reason I want to go for TOTB is because it is supposed to represent all the car clubs in the UK, each club puts an entry together of the fastest cars from the club, then there are three sections to score points in 1/4 mile, handling and top speed run.

There has never been a 300zx in the comp which is a shame as there are

plenty of supra,gto, celica, subaru, eve'o, etc. I was asked once why I never entered TOTB before i could give an answer someone said the comp was for cars not boats, so I am going to enter in 2006 to shut a few people up like i did on Mach 06 this year at a performace Ford day at Crail with 1/4 mile times of 12.7 and two at 12.8. Even if I have to enter as a private entry I'll be there, one other point TOTB is an official event with no estimated figures on power and speed just true performance and results.

I hope MAC1 does make it next year Its not possible for me to match the spec of his car but i can bet you I wont be last, cant wait to line up with another 300 at TOTB, and they will both be RED :D :D :D :D :D

I take my hat off to you Ed, the more 300zx cars that enter the better IMHO as the reason you have given is the reason why I am doing this.

 

No matter what your goal is some twat will always pull you down, we are right on target at this moment however running at next years TOTB is no certainty as things can and will go tits up when you are taking a project to the level I have.

 

I am in a lucky position to sort things if they do fail I know that many people are not, however this is not about money it is about sticking your neck on the line and try and get the 300zx on the map in the UK along with the Supras and Skylines etc.

 

Nothing better than to SHUT up the know alls and people that can’t wait to see you fail. :rofl:

 

On the other hand flying around the Nur with vans cars and bikes all running at the same time is a death trap IMHO,Bad drivers with a point to prove Is not my idea of fun to be honest and its a wonder that place is not haunted with all the people that have been killed there:(

I would LOVE to see 300zx.co.uk represented at next years TOTB.....and do well! So the more big power zeds we get the better!

The Nurburgring-piece is not a challenge either, too many inexperienced wanna be racing drivers trying to do what even the most professional PROPERLY trained racing drivers struggled to do over the years and paid the price with their own lives!

 

Go for it, but personally what's the point when a girl holds the lap record on the Ring in a Beamer Diesel FFS! ;)

Iain, you seem to have this hang up that we are in some way jealous of you, or want your project to fail. This is what you are always hinting at (in a not very subtle way!). Haven't you and I spoken on the phone and had a laugh at the banter? We both said we were building our cars for very different reasons and I said...(in big letters to emphasise the point)...I RESPECT THAT...and even showed an interest in what you were doing. But as I've told you, both on the forum, in PM's and over the phone, although I would never want to build or drive a car like yours, it's only because it's not what I'm looking for in a performance car...it's no personal slant against you!
