measure them :p

btw, its generally not recommended to go over 235 on the front as it can cause rubbing.

I think your rims are 10" at the back. I had the same.

Why do you want wider, they are pretty much perfect size for the rims.

iwud love to have them as wide as a porsche just like more grip in the wet.

Hey Indy,

265s are probably as wide as most Porsches, if not wider......

......as for grip in the wet, wider tyres actually reduce grip. wider tyres give better roadholding in the dry though.

Also, going wider than 265 on a 17 inch tyre is pretty rare for any car (except for a Diablo ;) - yes they did run on 17s). so you will be limiting your choice of brands and making replacment more expensive than necessary.

Stick with the sizes you have - as Scottywill says, that is pretty much the perfect size anyway.

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

ok cheers mate. wud its be okay for me to buy second hand good quality tires?

You're highly unlikely to get tyres of that size second hand.

Agree with Richard, narrower tyres are better in the wet. Whilst wider tyres have a large contact area, the weight is being transmitted over a wider area therefore reducing traction.

i wouldnt touch a 2nd hand tyre with a bargepole!! many of them come insurance write offs & could have structural damage to the inside.

i have 235 17 40 at the front and 265 35 17s at the rear how much more wider can i go??

I'v have 245/40/18 front 275/35/18 rear, no rubbing but fun in the wet
