as above when applying the brake to slow down i can hear tap tap tap tap..! and sometimes feel it throgh the steering wheel too.

 

have checked all the whell nust and they are all present and tight as a nuns arse.

 

any ideas?

Sounds like a bit of rust on a front disc. If you are not using the car regularly there can be a build up on the edges of the discs especially. If a piece chips off it leaves a rough edge that will cause the tap tap until it is worn off (or the pad) then no more noise.

 

Try braking harder from higher speeds

Could be warped discs. That caused the same symptoms on my Zed.

if the knocking is as you come to a stop or when you brake hard it could be tension rod bolts need tighteing up

If the discs are warped its quite obvious when you nearly get to a halt, the car will jolt as the warped discs passes through the brakes. Kind of like ABS kicking in.
