Right, I've transfered the plate from my old car onto my Zed, now all the paperwork came through today, with the new tax disks.

 

I still have to wait until whenever to get the new V5's through.

 

Now, nowhere in the papers does it say when the plates are valid from. Is it from imediate effect? Or do I have to wait for the date my replacement V5s come through?

It's effectively immediate - generally they say return all the old info ASAP etc. Plus you will need to get a new/duplicate MOT cert with the right number, in order to get tax etc etc

The MOTs are restamped by DVLA and are therefore legal.

 

I'll have to get over to my friend's house. I'm sure it'll be ok for a few hours. They have to give time for late postage and what have you.

Just put another plate on mine last week,as soon as your MOT and new tax disc come through,then you can go ahead and fit the plates.

My V5 followed 10 days later.

Legally he should remove your numberplates immediately and replace them with the registration DVLA allocated to his car upon transferring the reg to your ZX.

 

I doubt anyone will pick him up for it, unless he has a crash on the way over ;)

 

Remember to tell both your insurance companies too!
