I recently fitted Mongoose exhaust with decat pipes also.

My car has been hesitating for a while, when cold, and I think I can trace it back to when exhaust system was changed.

Question I have is: The two sensors that go after the cat were cut and just taped up the underside of the body. Is this the correct procedure? and will these sensors still be working, could they be affecting the running of the car?

Hope this makes sense.

Cheers

Steve

not exactly a proper fix but as long as the wires were joined back to the correct feed then they should still work. Deffo worth getting some parallel connectors and joining the wires properly.;)

If your O2 sensors are not connected you will probably be suffering with very sh1t MPG,

You can do a self diagnostic or take it to an MOT centre and get an emmissions test done to check the sensors.

(edit, just re read your post, the sensors after the cat are not the O2 sensors, well mine are in the manifold not sure about the later models??)

Andy

o2 sensors are in the Downpipe elbox just after the Turbos. The sensors in Cat are heat sensors. Its normal to remove and tape them up.

Thanks Dave, I knew the O2 sensors were on the downpipes, just thought these were an additional set (are they called lamber sensors?). Anyway, if taping up is quite normal, then it must be something else that's giving me the hestitation when cold. Just a thought I had this morning.

Cheers anyway lads

O2 sensors are lambda sensors. The cat temp sensors have no effect on the running of the engine, they just trigger the warning light.

As you can probably tell, I'm no mechanic :D

i see yours is a late spec one steve. anyone know if any of our cars went to an upstream & downstrem O2 sensor setup??
