Any performance specs available Warren?

Couldent find any but i have seen one in DUbai with this conversion and it was one very wild car. I have to say it is a nice option if you are going for performance as the poopra motor already has lots of spec so it owuld be a cheap option.

at least with this you could get to the engine to fix it not like at the moment where you have to have double jointed fingers to undo bolts and a degree in nano technology to find various electrical contacts lol

True. After working on the engine in a ZX, you find wallpapering your hall through the letterbox a doddle.

Why would someone want to spend the time and money to do this, when there's not much difference in performance anyway?

Pete

i'd do it just because i know i can work on a soup engine and not get spanked on servicing and modding it is cheaper in the long run its a more modern engine and less prone to some of our beloved 300 foibles

Are they really that much more reliable?

im nto sure how much more reliable they are but they certinly are cheaper and easier to say the least.

There are many many posotives to it and i think it is pretty cool cause you get the best of both worlds biggrin.gif (Maby the supra club and the 300 club should put money in the kitty and do this lol)

What is the curb weight difference between the two cars?

What about putting a Skyline engine under the hood? Perhaps the Nissan straight six is too long for the Z32 engine bay?

Be nice to keep the car wholly Nissan using a "race proven" engine from the same manufacturer. wink.gif

Hey! haven't they fitted one to a Supra in Japan, the "1000hp" one seen in tuning magazines.

the skyline transplant has been done and with a six speed paddle shift but at 15,000 you got to ask yourself why you could buy three decent z's with that kind of coin having said that though if i was that rich i would have a look at doing it

How about transposing the entire upper bodwork of a 300ZX onto the chassis and engine of a skyline?(a bit like they did with the Escort body onto the Sierra Cosworth under-pinings)

You would then have the looks of the Z with the 4 wheel drive and high powered engine of a skyline, but without the sky's boxy bodywork!

What a top mod !!!!!

Mr ringmaster i needs to be talking to you soon and have no idea how to contact you. And best you prove your ringmastershipt this year when we all go down wink.gif

I agree the poopra motor is a fantastic unit no doubting it.

Very strong very reliable and has nice goodies on it to start with.

Y not just get a Supra? If U like the engine so much? Suppose the styling isnt to everyones taste though. wink.gif

Shame they didnt design the Z32 around the engine more and not try to squeeze it in to such a tight engine bay.

Well if thats how you all feel, thats fine by me. Funny how when he was winding the hell out of us all and i asked for it to be moderated the answer was no.

Well this is it officially for me. I no longer wish to be part of this dump.

Wierd how ttnet get it right yet we have 100 members and cant. ?

Good luck to you all frown.gif

I wasnt having a go at you-just stating a fact!....so mind your language as their maybe minors present!!

p.s. Did U honestly think that by posting a thread about a Z32 with a Supra engine U werent going to get replies from Supra owners/admirers/enthusiasts etc etc.?

Funny how U always seem to start these contentious threads isnt it- mr 300z?!!

The 300zx motor for your own information actually was designed first then the car designed around it.

[this is all you really needed to say here 300z]

My word...

That seemed to be a bit harsh for what was a perfectly innocent piece of posting from Suprat.

He (I presume) did admit that the styling of the Supra would not be to everyone's tastes.

I'm not too keen on your swearing either - does this go for me as well? I can assure you, however, that my father is most definitely not my brother.

This moderation (or censorship in this case) is getting well out of hand.

Obviously I understand the need for moderators to ensure no legal problems ensue, but do we really need someone editing posts because they contain swearing?

We're not schoolchildren anymore (apart from Clarkey wink.gif )

I have an engine from a toyota soarer 2.5Twin turbo if anyone wants to try that in their car. It is actually the engine that the supra engine was based on, and is a stronger engine than the Supra one (even though it is half a litre down in size, it takes 2psi less boost to produce the same power as the Supra engine due to an intake system that was designed by Yamaha.) So there you go, thats's my useless piece of information for the day.

The Soarer 2.5 TT (1JZ GTE) engine is not stronger, but slightly more efficient (or something like that). This is the same engine used in the MK3 TT Supras which are quite rare and import only. The 2JZ GTE (Supra MK4, Lexus GS3000 TT) is the stronger and more tuneable engine.

The 2JZ GTE is definately based on the 1JZ GTE but the 2JZ is more refined...

Pete

I'm suprised they managed to fit the Supra engine in a Z. I've owned 2 mk3 supras and the engines seemed really long, being a straight 6 not a V6.

Loadsa room each side of the engine bay is nice though!
